Got Killer my ole Rem 870 3 1/2” out yesterday, and tried a 2 1/2 oz load with 2 ozs of 9’s and a 1/2 oz of 8’s with a Indian Creek .665 choke @ 40 yards.
10”-488
10”-20” 287

Would it extract and eject? My 870 Supermag is a POS. I've been using it developing light woodcock/quail loads for another gun and I have to use a ramrod to complete extraction in about every 3rd shot with factory light loads yesterday. It did the same NIB with factory dove/quail loads. Gil

Yes Gil it ejected the hull with no problem. I've had that gun for about 12 years. That gun with a Indian Creek .665 is lights out for ole Mr Tom!!!!

Steve, you must have had shot burning a hole in your loading bench to shoot that much shot with one trigger pull. That or you ran out of things to do. ;)
Now you can get back to shooting your .410 with a third of the shot the 2.5 oz. load carries and kill them 1/3rd as dead. The pattern is a take no prisoners load for sure--birds and shoulder. Gil

No such thing as Overkill. Even with TSS it’s still fun the carry all gauges. A couple years ago I thought I’d never carry a 12ga again but after several years I missed my old 12ga 1300. Killed 4 with it this year a loved it very much.

My go to turkey gun in recent years has been the 870 Super Mag I received as a gift from the family a few years back. Killed a number of gobblers with it out to 40+ with Hevi-Shot Mag blend 3.5". It's brutal on the user and usee! Glad I ain't shootin' ducks or doves with this bad boy! Don't think my shoulder or trigger finger could take the pounding.

 Late reading this but I’m 13 or so seasons into my 870 super express. If I remember right the gun was just over $400 brand new. IC choke($70ish), sling , tru glos ($30) and a sur-shot stock($110) put a really good performer for around $600.... I’ve been pleased with all aspects and it has not been babied at all.
Great pattern!

I love my super mag , its the closest thing to a sure thing I've found. Recoil doesn't bother me but it is a heavy sucker.

I also love my Super Mag! I use to shoot Nitros in it and it was brutal, which caused me to purchase a Lead Sled many years ago. I went away from Nitros due to the cost and shot the Winchester Longbeards. They really shoot good for my purposes. I recently bought a box of Nitros again from a local guy who was a dealer. He actually had the same load I shot many years ago, so I bought them for less than 1/2 of what Nitro Ray charges and no shipping. This box will last me a good long time, but yes...........It kicks like 2 mules! I'm running a .660 Rhino tube through it and it shoots great.

I had the 11-87 Super Mag as shown by the OP and hunted it hard for years. Using Hevi 6's and Remington Hevi 6's to start. Moved to Hevi 7 and Fed HW 7. Then to TSS #9. It never failed to kill or work. It was a reliable, HEAVY duty workhorse. But I never bonded with the gun or the funky, right hand only thumbhole. After I moved to the 20 /TSS it found a new home. Present owner loves it and as far as I know its still performing great. Just wasn't the gun for me.

Funny you should post this. I have been crushing them the last 7 years with my 20 and hand rolled tss. Just pulled out my 11-87 sure shot mag, bought several boxes of Apex 3.5 2 1/2 oz of the 7.5 TSS. Going to try them just because.
