MAC Computers & Safari Can't find the Server for GN

Post by Grunt-N-Gobble »

Is there an issue with the website's servers that makes getting on the site difficult when using a MAC computer? I'm on now, but most of the time I can't. Do the settings need adjusted?

For the last few days, Safari says it can't find the server for gobblernation.com

If it's a problem on the GN server's end, it's probably an ip address thing. There's some fairly strict security measures in place to keep site hacking & spam under control.

The most common problem occurs when there are multiple failed login attempts. The server then temporarily puts a block on the ip address.

Let me know if the problem continues and we'll see about finding a permanent fix.

I'll find out on Monday again if I can get back on. I have things set to log me in automatically each time, so I can't see it as a failed login attempt.

I'll let you know. Thanks

I use an IPad mini when @ home and have never had a problem. But at work it's a different story. And no...... There aren't any restrictions at work.

Still having problems. I haven't been able to get on since Tuesday. Was going to pst about it sooner, but didn't think about while at home.

Had a good run for a couple weeks.

I had trouble from my home PCs. I was able to get to it from my mobile phone when not connected to WiFi, though. If I connected my phone to WiFi, I couldn't get to GN.

It was a DNS problem for me. I adjusted my network connection to use OpenDns.org's DNS entries and I haven't had any problems since.

Instead of having your DNS server settings automatically set in your network connections, set them to:

208.67.222.222 and
208.67.220.220

Click this link to determine what your current ip address is http://www.whatsmyip.org/ and PM it to me.

I'll set the server to "always allow" it. However, if you connect to the internet with a dynamic (changing) ip, it will only be a temporary fix (if it works) until your ip changes again.

A lot of web sites and forums are having issues right now. The blaze will work one time and then lock Internet Explorer the next as does the site for my spam blocker. It might be the fixes and patches being installed for the latest virus that is out there?

Rick, I'll have to do or try that on Monday. Getting the IP address isn't a problem, I just hope ill be able to get back on Monday morning. If you have an email address you want to pm me this weekend, I'll email it to you just in case I can't get on.

There are no numbers on any of my clocks below 8. Then all of a sudden, 2 days before turkey season they appear. Then right after the season they disappear.
What's up with that

I sent an email to Rick this morning. I was able to read one thread then the hammer came down and I was out.

I'm not getting kicked out, Safari tells me it can't find the gobblernation server.

I would try clearing my browser's cookies & rebooting. Rebooting might do it by itself especially if you leave your computer running all the time.

If that don't work, check your computer's security settings. Browser security settings can be set so strict that they won't let you stay logged in.

Keep in mind that I'm guessing since I can't duplicate the problem on my end.
