Posting Pictures in the Forum

Post by rick »

Any time someone ask's about inserting pictures in the forum, this is the advice I give...

The picture you want to post needs to be on the internet and you need to know it's address. Since you're already registered w/this site, you can upload the pics from your hard drive to your member gallery in "Pictures & Wallpapers".

After that, pull the picture up in your browser & determine it's address. With most browsers you can move your mouse over the pic & click the right button, one of the options will be "properties". After selecting "properties" you should see a little window with the picture's internet address.

Now post a message in the forum & wherever you want the picture to show up in your post, you insert the pic's internet address surrounded by the Img brackets.

The typical internet address for the pic would be something like: http://gobblernation.com/photopost/data/502/025.JPG
So when I take that address & surround with Image like this:

Code: Select all

[img]http://gobblernation.com/photopost/data/502/025.JPG[/img]
This is what will be displayed in the forum:
Image

Also, don't forget that everyone can preview & edit their own posts if it doesn't work as desired.

Hope this helps.

or you can just go to www.tinypic.com and it will do everything for you there and give you multiple codes to copy and paste and place in forums or wherever.

No problem on the avatar Jaybird. It has been uploaded to your profile.

The image was just a little taller than the maximum pixel size permitted for avatars so I increased that setting to 125px wide by 150px tall.

Anytime anyone needs help with their avatar it's no problem at all. Send me the pic or tell me where to get it off the internet and I'll take care of it.

That filter better be pretty specific, because I got all kinds of obscene pics to post here. ;)

What if I want a different picture...
Every picture on the internet has it's own unique address. The part between the Image brackets would be different for each picture.

Examples:

Code: Select all

[img]http://gobblernation.com/photopost/data/502/025.JPG[/img]
displays...
Image

Code: Select all

[img]http://gobblernation.com/photopost/data/500/medium/Minnesota_Fishing_2012_003.jpg[/img]
displays...
Image

Code: Select all

[img]http://gobblernation.com/photopost/data/500/medium/Turkey_Hunting_2012_012.jpg[/img]
displays...
Image

Hope this helps.

Not sure what happened to your avatar, but if you email it to me or tell me where to get it on the internet, I'll get it uploaded: webmaster@gobblernation.com

I hit choose file and it pops up photo library and I click on pic but I can't post them for some reason. So I guess my question is what am I doing wrong. Thanks

OLE RASPY, what kind of phone are you using? I just uploaded a couple of pics to my gallery using my old Android with no problem.

I do remember a problem uploading pictures with older apple phones, but the newer models work fine I believe.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 and I cannot get any pics to post in the forum or as my avatar pic. I have all the pics on Photobucket and I put them in my member gallery on this site but I cannot get them into my teams kill and measurement picture threads or into my profile avatar.

Avatars can't be any bigger than 150x150px max.. If anybody has any problems resizing images for avatars, I'll be glad to do it on this end...you'd just need to email the pic (webmaster@gobblernation.com), or tell me where it is on the internet and I'll go get it and I'll take care of it.

...about posting images in the forum. I made a slight change in the way pics are displayed in the gallery.

Pull your picture up in the gallery, or anywhere on the internet, then click it to get the largest version. After that, right-click it & select "Copy image URL". Then paste your image's url (internet address) into the post surrounded with the & brackets like this:

Code: Select all

[url]http://gobblernation.com/photopost/data/500/20150406_153211.jpg[/url]
This is the result of the above code:

Image

Those instructions are for Google Chrome, but most browser's should be very similar.

Let me know if you still have problems...my instructions ain't always the best after a few cold ones :)

Glad you got to that point, I had just tested my wife's iphone 4 successfully.

...now here's where my smart phone education ain't so good.

If you can copy & insert a picture's url (internet address), surrounded by the & brackets, into the posting area using a smart phone, it should work. The instructions would be the same as above; I just don't exactly know how to tell how to do it.

Sorry, I'm learning & determined, but a little behind when it comes to wireless devices.
