Previewing error

Post by HunterGKS »

Rick,

At 09:05 this morning, I tried to preview a large post with 12 pics & got this error trying to preview in Gobbler Talk. I tried 3 times & will try again a little later.

Thx

OK, Through a process of elimination, I figured out what was causing the problem but not why.

I had originally posted:

I hunted the rest of the week but never raised my gun again as none of the few deer I saw presented a shot. Day 1 equals sign 16, Day 2 equals sign 0, Day 3 equals sign 4, Day 4 equals sign 0, Day 5 equals sign 4, Day 6 equals sign 4, Day 7 equals sign 0. Total deer seen over 7 days equals sign 28.

I changed the "equals sign" to "saw" & solved the problem.

I hunted the rest of the week but never raised my gun again as none of the few deer I saw presented a shot. Day 1 saw 16, Day 2 saw 0, Day 3 saw 4, Day 4 saw 0, Day 5 saw 4, Day 6 saw 4, Day 7 saw 0. Total deer seen over 7 days was 28.

Is the system seeing the nbr = nbr as code & can't figure out what to do?

Thanks for whatever you can tell me. I was a programmer/systems analyst/systems engineer in another life & always like to know the "whys."

Thx Doug. Since I came up with a work-around & got my stuff posted, it's not a big deal. My inner programmer is curious is all & I'm sure Rick has more pressing issues so whenever/if he gets aroundtuit is fine.

Crazy stuff like this does happen sometimes.

In this case, it seems to have been a combination of those equal signs along with other characters that were above the sentence with the equal signs. You can see that equal signs are no problem in your sentence below...

"I hunted the rest of the week but never raised my gun again as none of the few deer I saw presented a shot. Day 1 = 16, Day 2 = 0, Day 3 = 4, Day 4 = 0, Day 5 = 4, Day 6 = 4, Day 7 = 0. Total deer seen over 7 days = 28."

However, if any of the words above your sentence contained the letters "or", the error would occur. It doesn't seem to matter about the "or" instances below your sentence above. I guess the server thinks it's some kind of programming condition or something.

I'm no programmer so I have to work stuff like this out just like you did (process of elimination).

Sorry for the late reply, I was away from my computer yesterday.

Thx Rick. The system was probably seeing the "or" as part of an "if else" statement & got all confused.

Like

if A = 1 or 2
do this
else
do that

It makes sense kinda sorta.

Thx for the explanation.

Big fingered operator error seems more likely. But if the or=less> than <more theory makes sense then go with that.
