Re: South Carolina DNR recommendations for changes to turkey season

This is crazy considering they JUST pushed opening from April 1 back into March. So after a very short period they have determined that didn’t work? Lol.

Re: Don't tell anyone

That's an obvious problem. I hunt private land in a State that allows rifles for private land gobblers. If I'm going to shoot a 100 yard bird it will be with something a lot more economical than a $10.00 shotgun shell. Btw - I frequent both this forum and that "other forum". Enjoy them bo...

870 12 vs 20 receiver/stock interface angle

Is the angle between the stock and receiver the same on the 870 12s and 20s?

I may try my hand at making a speedbead for the 20 gauge if so.

Re: Drill and Tap 870

Even on a 20 gauge there is an insane amount of metal on the top of the receiver. In fact, my mount screws only go about half way through and they torque up just fine.

Those guys are nuts.

True, but not a traditional roll crimp.
I'm not sure what you mean by that.
I thought the longbeards had some type of fold and roll crimp.
Nah they’re roll crimped. They used an overshot card that looks like a fold crimp.

Re: Federal TSS - Just thinking outloud...

I just found it odd that I haven't see a company with a roll crimp turkey load until they came out with the TSS. I just figured someone from Federal is a member of this form or lurking around. :dontknow:  Longbeards are roll crimped True, but not a traditional roll crimp. I'm not sure what y...

I really saw no other options aside from the CZ Mallard that has 2 triggers. I got one a couple of years back and had Briley make an eccentric choke for the bottom barrel.

I get cabelas gift cards at 20% off and I still passed on this deal this time around. Prices on the 332 and the FF3 are so far down I couldn't hardly even make it work.

Re: 870 20ga compact or full size?

The 21" barrel is why, I replaced the stock on mine anyways. I actually bought the Compact Jr which has a 18-3/4" barrel but I couldn't get the results I wanted out of that particular barrel. So, my wife and I swapped barrels, and her 21" wasn't great either. I ended up doing the Remi...

I had one of Bram's bones, identical to the one in the middle.

I had it in a cargo pocket and sat down to call a turkey, I guess my pants got tight and it snapped it in 2.

I glued it back together and it still runs, it's just not as pretty.

So I made this today, and it was excellent. I did use chuck roast, because we decided to make it at like 10 am, and my parents were here so I didn't have time to that venison since they had to leave by like 5:30. I've made similar dishes, but I think this was probably better than the others. I could...

The number of pellets per ounce can be off for many reasons, most likely the density is higher than expected. Also, they could be slightly oversized. It's nothing to sweat, but very few batches come out exact.

Re: CZ Mallard Barrel Regulation

I've sent an O/U to Briley for regulation correction before. They re-threaded the barrels and put it spot on. There was a little back and forth to convince them regulation should be spot on for windage at around 15 yards, but they did it. And it was for free, because they do Yildiz for free. Yildiz...

Re: CZ Mallard Barrel Regulation

Briley made me an eccentric choke for a Beretta O/U some years ago. It did work just fine and the process with Briley went very smoothly. That gun was off 8" vertically at 30 yards. If you were to go that route, I would look at doing the eccentric choke on the barrel you plan to have the more ...

8-10" is extreme, but I have seen worse, almost double that, out of a Luxus F3, needless to say that gun got sent back to Blaser. Over the phone when he told them it was a ft. and half high at 20 yds they thought he was crazy. When they got the gun and shot it they called him back and said wow...

Re: CZ Mallard Barrel Regulation

I understand everything you're saying, however the gap is larger at 40 yds than at 30. 30 yds was chosen because that is the routine that Briley has you follow so that they know how to cut the chokes. Firing 3 shots with each barrel (I actually did the test 2 different times for a total of 12 shots)...
