Re: Black Hills Bound

4249AA9E-592A-4876-873E-2C065E6CB6A3.jpeg I’ve been in the Black Hills since Thursday. Didn’t hear a lot of gobbling, mostly because the weather has been bad. In between wind and rain events, I managed to call in and kill a nice two-year old yesterday at around 3:00 PM. It happened pretty fast, but...

That’s a two-year old for sure. Nice job. I am headed to the Blacks Hills for the last week of the season. What were the numbers like?

Re: The 28 Rises To Speak This Morning

It has nothing to do with the 28 gauge per se. Just use a recoil calculator and you will see that recoil is a combination of shot weight, velocity, and gun weight. When you start shooting 1.5 oz loads at 1100 fps out of a 5 pound gun you are going to get a lot of recoil. You will get as much recoil ...

Re: impeachment

The future of our great Republic hangs in the balance. This is a fight to the death. If Trump defeats these traitorous thugs, the Republic may be saved, but it’s our last chance. If the deep state takes him out, I don’t think we will ever get our Republic back.

Re: 28 ga. & .410 turkeys

Here is a Montana bird taken by my wife. It’s the first kill for the 28 gauge Beretta Silver Pigeon using 1 3/8 oz. TSS #9 1/2. The call is a Marlin Watkins fiddle paddle in bloodwood over wormy butternut. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190426/e92d5ab7e66403c4a002e1083eb7ba30.jpg Sent from my iP...

Those should be awesome turkey killers! That is an amazing amount of shot in a 28 gauge.

Re: Fox Trot Ammo

Any plans for a 28 gauge load? I recently had cataract eye surgery, and I’m a little worried about the recoil from my 12 gauge, 3 inch, 2 oz. reloads. I don’t have time to get set up for reloading 28 gauge this year.

That call is for my son. The blue is for the unit colors. Scott did a fantastic job on this, and he is great to work with. I whole-heartedly endorse him if you want a great call. Thanks again, Scott!

Re: Who Here Has Never Taken A Private Land Spring Gobbler-- But One Day Would Like To?

I have never hunted private land and probably never will, at least here in Montana. I like the challenge of killing hard hunted public land birds. Here in Montana, birds on private land can get pretty “barnyardy”.

Re: How was your season?

And, of course, I missed one on the last day. With my new super, duper TSS loads of all things. But the gun and load can only do so much - the man behind the gun has to do his job, and I didn’t. That gun and load had 70 and 50 yard kills this year, then I missed at 30.

Down year here in eastern Montana - bad winter must have hurt bird numbers.
