Re: Painted Hulls

No issue at all Boom. That’s the answer I wanted, lol. Hobbes might have a point. Gonna give it a whirl, of course girls being girls she wanted to paint something else in the garage when I brought it up. I figure she’ll come back around to it here before the opener. Will post any interesting result...

Re: Recommended Choke - Weatherby SA-459

Does that have invector threads like the 20ga? Tougher question than I thought, invector but NOT the invector plus. Seems like they have jumped around with the choke threads in the SA-459 over the last few years. For my model weatherby’s website says it uses the IMC (Integral Multi Choke) and “The ...

I was skeptical of the the turkey hail claim but checkout what happened in Montana.

If it can kill unprotected pelicans and cormorants sitting on the land or water it can surely kill turkeys sitting in a tree.

Painted Hulls

My five year old daughter has been real into painting lately. I let her go to town today in the garage and thought she might get a kick out of painting my 12 gauge reloads for the season. Anyone think this might cause an issue with performance out of an auto? Thoughts?

Thanks, did you put a limb saver or something like it back on, or the org. recoil pad back on? I don't get real excited about technology but I have been impressed with limb saver pads Plus one to that, limbsavers tame even the mighty mossberg 835.....except when they fall off leaving you stranded w...

Re: Any advice appreciated

I‘ve got it in both eyes, never had a problem with low power scopes. Me and re-dots never got along for a wide variety of issues. Me and beads got along worse. The reddot blur being doubled never made them an issue though , in fact your question was the first time I thought “oh yeah that is probably...

Re: I am wanting a semi-auto 20...

I put a pistol grip on my SBEII, and promptly put the shurshot on my 870 20ga. Yeah, the semi auto 20's are a little heavier than the 870 20, but not as heavy as my 12ga. I did try to see if mossberg had a pistol grip stock for the SA20, but i could not see where to buy one. They have them on the t...

Re: I am wanting a semi-auto 20...

If you're wanting the 1187 compact/SA459 you can probably find one online and have it shipped to your local gun shop for $25/30. Don't be afraid. There are lots of reputable dealers. I just went to gunbroker.com and looked at the top volume sellers to find a good one. I just ordered a SA-459 12 gaug...

Re: What's your heaviest & lightest gobbler?

24 lbs 2oz, just a fat bastard in NY, 14 lbs 6oz, "the Ninja" hardest bird I ever hunted. Would gobble once and fly down. 1 1/4" spurs and just plain scared up. Old Warrior, actually felt guilty shooting him, just for a moment ! Was set up above him and he flew down, never gobbled on...

25 over was first Illinois bird, the 12.5 was in Mississippi. I pulled the gizzard stones and remember his gizzard was about a 3rd of the size of a normal bird's gizzard.

Re: LBL Quota Hunt And Youth Hunt Cancelled .

I spoke with the NWTF biologist that works with LBL today. He was just as blindsided by the decision as everybody else. He talked with the main guy for LBL and got the same answer as everybody else has gotten. My first thought was that they pulled the plug because of low bird numbers. I put in last...

Buy a Darrin Dawkins aluminum pot and a David Halloran crystal mistress. Get loud, really be a turkey. You’ll kill more than you ever did with the soft game.

Soft tanning exotic deer skin

Has anyone ever sent a skin off to be tanned somewhere that they could recommend? (Or do you know places I should avoid?) I have a big beautiful skin from a sambar deer my father shot this last fall sitting in my freeZer. It’s basically a small elk hide, the animal was about 450 lbs live weight. I w...

I did not say that you do not need sight adjustment, just that you don't need a scope, I'm 75 years old, one eye, and cataracts and can still see a turkeys eye at 40 yards so why would I need a scope to kill him. I bet in your day you did some things with women you didn’t really need to do but sure...

At the range you should shoot a turkey at no one with anywhere near normal sight should ever need a scope on a shotgun. You take those comments and put them on Facebook Ol Bob, lol. I use pro ears predator gold. I agree that is a pain to get used to wearing them, but at the end of the day you’re trading the convenience of not protecting your ears for, well, protectiong your ears. Every time you pull the trigger on a gun you’re doing irreparable damage to your ears. Every. Time....

You pick the one week you want to hunt, in one specific county, and in for most public land, the specific place. You then pick your 2nd -10th choices. Planning a trip? If you want to hunt two different counties you will need two different tags for that week. If you want to hunt a public area in thos...

If you don’t like him, pack your s.hit and leave. The ends justify the means. I would never vote for ANY Democrat. Their ideas are ridiculous. Their ideas are dangerous for this county.
