Re: Red-Dot and shimming
While some shooters prefer a slightly higher pattern for better visibility, having it closer to 50/50 can indeed help center the red dot within the pattern, potentially enhancing your sight alignment. Your plan to pattern the gun before mounting the optic is a smart approach, providing a baseline un...

Re: Repair of Muck Field Blazer boots
ithink you should try the following: Neoprene Repair Kit, Consider using a specialized neoprene repair kit, which usually includes a patch and adhesive specifically designed for neoprene materials. These kits are formulated to create a durable bond and may offer better results than general-purpose a...

Re: Gun Mounted Video Camera
My main problem/thought on the Tactacam (or similar) is that if it is attached to your gun (or another part of the body) the shot recoil is going to always be a problem,...which pretty much means if you want to get a good video of the actual shot, you would always have to have another camera running...

Re: Single shot 12 gauge
I don't think there is a single-shot 12 gauge lighter than the Yildiz TK12. Mine weighs 4.25 lbs. I took advantage of the solid rib to mount a Skinner Peep and Marble post, but there is no reason a red dot can't be mounted. Gil I put together a new bike last year and used it on my deer hunt. Taking...

Re: Best Turkey Chair
I have 2, the Mossy oak turkey seat from Wally World (about $19 from here ) and the Alps Outdoors Turkey chair (about $35 I believe). Both are very comfortable. Both are somewhat heavy, 4 to 5 lbs. But I will give up weight for comfort. I will normally set for extended periods of time so I will grab...

Re: new to turkey hunting
A very good friend of mine asked me to make him a set of wing bone calls to commemorate his Wild Turkey Grand Slam.
(A Grand Slam is one of every sub-species of turkeys in the US... Eastern, Osceola, Merrium's & Rio Grande)
DO you have any ideas?

Re: Number 1 hunting tip
I was recently asked by a novice turkey hunter what was my best hunting tip gleaned by almost 4 decades of chasing gobblers and without hesitation I told him, "You can't kill them in the bed!" If you're not out there with them, you won't kill squat! I've killed quite a few gobblers just b...

Re: Snake Boots
I'm also looking to buy a new pair of snake boots. I would like to get a pair of zip-up style boots. I am looking for a value price pair. I purchased a pair of Justin Square Toe style 10 1/2D from shoe section here and they are not a great fit for me. Any suggestions would be appropriate. I have ver...

Re: Covid question?
How was your physical fitness in COVID? When were you able to return to exercise? I usually played table tennis in my home garage in lockdown season. I've read all kinds of things about returning to exercise here including taking 4-6 weeks off after covid! I know you aren't supposed to exercise whil...

Re: Todays Laugh.
A farmer stopped by the local garage to have his truck fixed. They couldn't do it while he waited, so he said he didn't live far and would just walk home. On the way home he stopped at B & Q and bought a bucket and a gallon of paint. He then stopped by the market and picked up a couple of chick...

Re: Binos for turkeys
I have the vortex vipers 10x42 I love them and dont have any complaints but I bought my dad the nikons from here , now kinda jealous and wish I bought them for myself as well instead of my vipers! I agree that high-end optics are the better long-term choice and can enhance your ability to spot and j...

Re: Filing a choke to change POI
I have mentioned filing a choke to change POI on one of my sxs guns, and I've been asked to explain how to do it, so here goes. I started experimenting with sxs guns several years ago and found that its very hard to find one that shoots both barrels to the exact same poi with turkey loads, and espe...
