Re: 410 vs 20ga youth starter gun
I’d go with a 20ga and see if I could get the Apex 3/4oz TSS waterfowl load to pattern

Re: Turkey vest!?
I’ve really liked my RnG200. Used it for 3-4 years and did a few custom things to make it exactly how I wanted it. Of course can’t leave well enough alone so am trying the Will Primos Signature Vest this season. Pretty much the opposite of a minimalist vest but I guess I will find out how I like it

Re: Belgium browning sweet 16
I’ve got an original Belgium sweet 16 in the safe I inherited from my grandfather. Wouldn’t consider cutting the barrel but wouldn’t mind killing a gobbler with it

Re: What Choke for Stevens 410 and Apex Turkey Ninja Combo?
I think every one is different and 410s are real finicky. I tried about every tss shell out there and several different chokes. I ended up finally finding a really good combo of Boss 9s and a CNC 385. 200 in the 10” at a lasered 40.

9s will kill further than any of us should be shooting. Outside of state regulations i don’t understand the use of larger tss shot sizes

My main turkey gun has a Trijicon SRO. I like it but it doesn’t give me much that a Fastfire 3 wouldn’t give me at half the cost

Re: Question for TSS shooters/hunters
Two of my and one of my son’s kills were on the outer limit of my comfort zone. My son had to lean around the tree after the bird circle us - so I couldn’t see it- he dropped the bird. When I walked up to it I lasered the tree we were against - 55 yards. Yikes. Pretty sure if I had been able to see ...

Re: Weird shock gobble calls
Was walking up a ridge with a friend one morning trying to get a bead on a gobbler we had heard on the roost. We got to the top of the ridge and a deer blew and ran about 30 yards in front of us. The turkey we were trying to get a bead on shock gobbled from the limb right above where the deer blew. ...

Re: Benelli problem?
At first blush sounds like a problem gun. But then every issue seems to come back to something you’ve done (lead sled, aftermarket forearm). I’d suspect the recoil spring is also a causing you issues. I’d return the gun to bone stock and shoot it and see what happens. I have the Wolff springs in 3 g...

Re: How you all covering your red dots in the rain?
Dream plastics makes covers for all sorts of red dots. They work great. You can buy them on eBay and they come in pairs. I usually leave the cover in the truck unless I’m expecting rain. I don’t enjoy hunting in the rain though so usually stay in if the forecast is really bad

I recently bought both the Killin’ Time and MG Nomad vests during a 40pct off sale on their website. I’ve received the MG best and really like it though have not loaded it down with my gear yet. Have not received the Killin’ Time best yet but am curious to see how I like the stadium seat option.

Re: 20 & 28 ga chokes for TSS
Others more knowledgeable than me will chime in but in my experience the heavier the payload, the more open the choke I want. I’m shooting a 2oz 20ga load and a .575 choke does great. Others that shoot a 1 1/2 or 1 5/8 (the most common) load seem to do great with anything from .555 to .585 depending...

Re: Threading a 410 Barrel
I had an old beater 410 cut and threaded last summer. Had to do some work to find the right choke/shell combo but it throws a great 40 yard pattern. Carried it for the first time this morning. The barrel is 18” and the stock is something like 12 1/2” LOP so the gun is hardly longer than my arm and w...

Re: TTI Ultimate Benelli Power Pack Spring Set
I don’t know about the TTI product but I’ve got a Wolff spring in an M2 20 and a surecycle in another m2 20. They work well. Bolt closes with much more authority and no more worries about the benelli click after bumping the gun just enough to knock the bolt out of battery

The 301 should use what Carlson refers to as "Short Invector", the tube is 1.5" inside the barrel. As far as I know that 1.5” long choke is specific to the 301 https://www.choketube.com/interchange-guide/410-stevens-301-shotguns/ https://www.choketube.com/product-category/410-choke-t...
