Re: How close...vehicle access
Hey, Jim. Nice to see you back on! Good luck with your hunt! Pro tip: Roll the window down before you get to the tree he's roosted in. The noise can spook them. And, of course, have the gun loaded! Closing the action will get their attention every time! 🤣🤣🤣 Mike, Thanks so much, good to hear from y...

Re: How close...vehicle access
Thank you, that's kind of what I was thinking. This is private land, harvested fields and forested parcels next to cow pastures.

How close...vehicle access
If there is access for a vehicle to get to the hunting ground, How close is too close before disturbing roosting Birds?
If I don't have to walk five miles I'm not going to!

Re: Toms Sleeping on the Job
I know plenty of people around here that have shot their tag limit. I also know a bunch who have not even heard their first one. I mean 8 gobblers within a few hundred yards all on the roost. Tell me that shouldn't be a noisy and productive field!

Toms Sleeping on the Job
As I explained to my non-hunting spouse...A gobbler's job is to get his butt up at the crack of dawn and get onto his job of pro-creating...Stat! This weekend; at the appropriate time I heard 2 different Toms gobbling away. I did my best to get them to come and see me, I still have a lot to learn......

Re: Building a Natural Blind in SC. Legal?
Per a conversation with DNR...
Yes you can use clipping and branches and whatever to make a natural screen.
What I didn't know is that hunting turkey from a raised deer stand is allowed. Don't know why, but I thought that was illegal.

Re: Shooting near Feeders in SC
I just got off the phone with a very pleasant DNR employee. Any property with an operating feed is considered off limits...as mentioned there is a 10 day waiting period before it can be hunted... a follow up question about using a neighboring property really did not get a definitive answer. I have a...

Re: Shooting near Feeders in SC
Call your local DNR OFC, no other questions to ask Great minds… Actually I read your previous post that has since disappeared...though a little uppity, you were right...read the rules... and I did...they specifically state and define what is to be considered bait...but they do not define "Area...

Building a Natural Blind in SC. Legal?
I had a turkey conversation today with a buddy...Opening day here in our part of SC...He mentioned that he used blinds and had for many years. Ok, fine. I mentioned that I carry a good set of pruning shears and I make my own "natural screen".
He said...That's illegal! What? Is it?

Shooting near Feeders in SC
In South Carolina how far away from a deer feeder does one need to be so to not be considered hunting over bait? Got a buddy with about 80 acres woods and fields. His primary use for the property is for Deer. He has about 5 feeders spread through out the 80 acres. As far as I know he is still puttin...

Personally I like to see a company's mailing address somewhere on their website, especially if most folks had never heard of them, and the webpage seems to have been created in 2020.

Re: Prayers Appreciated.
I had the same surgery 23 years ago, complete dis-attachment. I went back to light duty 3 weeks later still wearing a cast. After the cast was removed and I was wearing the moon-boot I went out into the field, concrete sales, driving myself around; oh BTW it was my right leg. When the Doc told me it...

Re: Let's talk about Decoys
Decoy Safety: "Like the use of a gobbler call, decoys are effective...but can put the user at potential risk. Obviously, if a decoy can fool a sharp-eyed gobbler, it can fool another hunter. More than one decoy has drawn fire from an intruder into the decoy user’s hunting area. Hunters should ...

Let's talk about Decoys
Not so long ago...It was suggested that I not use decoys, especially early season, especially not as a newbie, others said there were times for using a decoy. So this past weekend, I got set up, and I did use the Fugly chicken (as apposed to Slim Jim) and mid morning a hen flew down, landed 20' from...
