Off The Roost Tactics

What is everyone’s go to move for hunting turkeys off the roost? I have always called “from the limb” a little bit and hoped they pitch my way. I would say more often than not, they pitch away from me, even after hammering at my calls. Both because of hens and without hens. I don’t expect them to la...

Pulling Birds

I have a small piece of public that I will be hunting tomorrow morning (opening day). This morning I went out to see where the birds were roosting and flying down. Well I believed them to be on top of this ridge, where there are private fields, and I’ve seen them in the past. So this morning I find ...

Re: boot gaiter recommendation

While I don’t wear gaiters turkey hunting, I do for backcountry hunting. I have Kennetreks. They are big up top for me as well. I bought a pair of Kuiu this year (I don’t remember which model), but they were certainly tighter up top.

Good stuff guys. My guess is when stuffing them in the pantyhose, the only way to take em out is by cutting the pantyhose?

Rams 27-17 I ain’t got no tracks but my momma loves me. If I win I’ll buy myself a call like Chief. I just like to support Brice and this group of likeminded folks. For a newer turkey hunter like myself I like this resource here at GN. P.S. - if I picked the same team and numbers as someone else I’l...

Re: Remington 870 Express 20ga Barrel!!!

Sumtoy will cut it down and thread it for chokes. He did one for me last year. Was about 80 bucks if I remember correctly. He did an excellent job it looks like factory. The cost of a choke is extra. I think it’s a Mobil thread he does. Do you have to buy one of his chokes? I was thinking about doi...

What’s Proper Turkey Prep?

So I don’t have any plans to do a full body mount any time soon, but would like one, one day. But you never know when you will shoot that bird. Last year I helped a buddy bag his first turkey. When we realized how gorgeous it was, a true limb hanger, with four beards, and a gorgeous tail, I told him...

Yep, the sad thing is it almost needs to hit and affect their family before they get the hint. Funny, I was on a presidential detail yesterday in Culpeper, VA. He came to help boost votes for a US Senator. Well, I didn't see any "defunding" the police there. He had to travel probably 7 mi...

I will be in for Kansas, NY, and probably New Hampshire. Was looking into TN this year but I don’t know if I can swing it. I have to save some days off to deer hunt Iowa in the fall.
