Re: feet, knees and butts
This is the only reason I still use a vest is because I like to have a seat cushion. That being said I’ve noticed in recent years I shoot probably 40% of my birds standing up. I love the advantage of standing behind a tree and using it as a rest in the thick hilly woods that I hunt. I try to convinc...

Re: Range Estimation
I’ve usually got a pretty good sense for when a bird is “in easy range” that being said I almost always over estimate the distance. I’ve killed several after waiting for them to come 5 to 10 more yards just to make sure they are in range only to walk up on them laying at 30 yards. I’d much rather ov...

Re: Old Mossberg 500 410 dot mount
I didn’t think I would like the sight mounted on the rib but tried it out on my wife’s .410 and actually love it

Re: Stoeger M3020 turkey 20 GA mount for red dot
I’ve heard this before. I have the sumtoy mount on mine and it hasn’t been an issue. If you are just wanting a small red dot the mounts from meadow creek mounted on the rib are great and I would highly recommend them. My dad has his drilled and tapped with a scope on it and hasn’t had any trouble so...

Re: Patience kills turkeys
I agree that patience kills turkeys no doubt, but so does being aggressive a lot of the time if you know what you’re doing. For me it’s all preference. I would much rather not kill a bird on a given day than sit by a tree for 4 hours and have one come walking in and shoot him. Nothing against either...

Re: Decoy or no decoy
I don’t usually carry one but do sometimes. Almost always just a single hen decoy when I do carry one. I’d say 95% of my birds were killed without one but I’m almost always hunting big woods

Those don’t show it great but that’s the best I have. After the paint job you really can’t even tell it was sanded down

Re: 12ga shurshot to 20ga
No. Mounted it straight to the gun and then just sanded it down to fit flush and it worked great. I’ll see if I can find a picture of the gun

I did this on mine. Just did some sanding on the stock and matches it up pretty easy then painted the whole gun

Seths calls are AWESOME. I got an African Blackwood and absolutely love it. I’m not great on a trumpet by any means but I can run his pretty well

Re: 2021 Spring Hunting Plans
Last year wasn’t too bad and was able to kill in 4 states. This year I’ll be starting late March and ending late May but everything in between is kinda up in the air. I should be hunting at least 4 new states

Re: Before Pulling the Trigger
I almost always try to start easing my gun towards the bird as slow as possible. If he goes behind a tree or bush where I’m sure he can’t see me then I’ll swing quickly. Sometimes it’s a combination of both. If I have to swing hard on a bird that doesn’t know I’m there I usually yelp at him while I’...
