Re: Charles Daley 101

I have a 101 in 20 gauge and I believe you'll like the gun. I've only had the gun a few days, just mounted a reflex red dot and will be sighting in this weekend. I like everything about it, but the trigger pull may have to be adjusted down the road.

Re: 410 vs 20ga youth starter gun

I believe the gun between those two is the ideal gun. The 28 with an ounce and a half load of tss is what I shoot and Salt Creek has an ounce and a quarter load that would be perfect for young hunters. I've shot the Salt Creek load in my SA-28 with very little recoil.

Re: SA 28

Shot at 25 and 40 yards, I prefer the .525 because of the slight advantage of wiggle room up close. Both will knock the snot out of em at 40.

That gun in 28 gauge, a pound lighter and double triggers would be my dream gun.

Re: 350 Legend

As MFL205 stated, this is not a 200+ yard gun. But in the woodlots and fields of traditionally shotgun only areas this caliber shines.

Re: 350 Legend

The 350 is bad medicine for deer and coyotes. In my opinion the best straight wall cartridge, especially in the 150 grain Winchester ammo.

Re: Mossberg SA 28ga optic?

I have the Meadow Creek rib mount on my SA-28. I really like it out in front of me. I have a receiver mounted red dot on my 1300 and prefer the rib mount.

Re: 28 gauge with Carlson's .526 choke pattern.

.505 seems crazy tight for a stock choke. Made me go measure my factory full for my SA-28 and it was .530, right where I thought it would be.

Re: 20 vs 28

Preference between the 20 and 28 is purely personal. If you already have a 20 and just looking for a back up another 20 makes sense. You'll already have the ammunition. I personally gave my 20 gauge turkey gun to my SIL once I handled, patterned and hunted my SA-28. Guess I'm one of the "Kool K...
