Re: EGW Red Dot Optics mounts
I did a little filing on the mount and got it to clear the receiver. Not a big deal.

Re: EGW Red Dot Optics mounts
I received the universal mount. The holes do indeed line up and the correct screws are supplied. Unfortunately it protrudes too far back contacting the slightly raised main part of the receiver. It will need to have material removed to fit. FYI if another sbe3 28 gauge shooter reads this thread.

Re: EGW Red Dot Optics mounts
EGW said it will fit the sbe3 28 gauge. I asked benelli as well about the radius but have not received a response as of yet.

Re: EGW Red Dot Optics mounts
Will the 670 contour fit the sbe3 28 gauge? Mine has holes tapped approximately .585" apart when eyeballing the plug centers with calipers. Thanks!

Re: Damaged Doe
If that hit was from a tree stand it looks almost perfect. Even if from the ground it should have got both lungs. Strange Yes, that would be a dead deer if the arrow went through her. My guess is the arrow deflected off the ribs, I've seen it happen a few times. If there was a blood covered arrow t...

Re: Franchi Affinity 20 gauge
If it were me and the hole spacing is correct I would (and did) use the Burris 336 base. It's the lowest base I've seen. I went the Weaver route and it was just too high so I went with the Burris 20200523_212504.jpg Yes, they dont advertise compatibility with an affinity so no interest here. Sent f...

Re: Franchi Affinity 20 gauge
The .575 put 280 in the 10” and 250 in 20”. Even pattern near and far.... 280 would work, I'll have to pick up a few boxes soon and start testing. I have an occasional goose roost that I'll do the final testing on later this fall. I'm not into swatting but will in the pursuit of science. Sent from ...

Re: Franchi Affinity 20 gauge
I bit the bullet and tried a Jebs Nitride .575 in mine with Federal TSS #9s. Best pattern yet....even, and plenty dense for hunting.... Thanks for the suggestion, how many pellets in the 10" at 40 are you getting? I'll try a shot with the 2 I have, evaluate, and then probably spend more money-...

Re: Franchi Affinity 20 gauge
Picked up a carlson 555 and 565 but havent purchased any tss yet. Did take the gun to shoot skeet and trap. The 565 worked great on trap with several dust clouds and broke 22 my first go in 20 some years. My wife did quite well using the modified choke especially considering it was her first time sh...

Re: Franchi Affinity 20 gauge
Anyone using theirs for waterfowl? Loads and choke suggestions appreciated. If I load tss I'll try a few for geese, otherwise I'd stick to steel or more moderately priced ammo.

Re: Franchi Affinity 20 gauge
I'll probably go with the Weaver, a little filling is not a big deal. Like that timber cobalt combo. I bought whatever was available other than black and that was bronze optifade. Hadn't really considered franchi guns and was looking for an m2. I felt the balance of the affinity was better suited fo...

Re: Franchi Affinity 20 gauge
I'll pick up one of the tightwad chokes to try, thanks for the suggestion. Noted on the poi changes, if I try different loads I'll keep notes. My wife took a bird this spring with the 410 , while it worked great, all of the #9's in the breast required extremely thin slicing to prevent trips to the d...

Re: Franchi Affinity 20 gauge
I'll probably buy a few chokes and sell the losers so thanks for the suggestions. What are the specs of the new load. I'd be also interested in a softer 2 3/4 load for the kids.

Re: Franchi Affinity 20 gauge
I have a vortex venom that will be used. Does the sumtoy mount using the existing 2 rear holes? Rough price on one?

Franchi Affinity 20 gauge
Recently bought an Elite, any recommendations on chokes with loads used, or scope bases? I see midway sells a $15 base and from what I've read may need the screws shortened, has anyone tried one? I know the short bases are popular but have no interest in drilling more holes if that would be required...

Re: Turkey gun conversion cost
The light twister loads sound good. I was considering a 20 gauge but if a 12 will perform the same, buying a new 20 autoloader makes no sense for me. The price of those pills will probably have me rolling my own though. I'd flinch too much at $11 per shot.[emoji38] Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapat...

Re: Turkey gun conversion cost
That's a good suggestion, that would put it around $300 and could always dip it later if I chose to.GLS wrote:Save yourself $180 off Ceracoating by rattle-can spraying the gun with Rustoleum camo paint. A good, repairable coating. Gil

Re: Turkey gun conversion cost
Thanks for your suggestions, so around $500 all said and done. I have been considering buying an M2 which would be an all purpose gun. Are there viable light 12 gauge tss loads that would pattern well/ perform similarly to a 20 gauge? My thinking is to have a gun for grouse and waterfowl for me, and...

Turkey gun conversion cost
Any rough estimates for converting a 11-87 into a dedicated turkey gun? My gun has a cracked forend so I would buy a synthetic replacement set. The other work would be shortening the barrel and tapping a new choke, a bead blast and full dip, and tapping the receiver for a mount. The barrel is bulged...
