Re: Sitka Vest Owners
Hmmm. The professional sarcasm here probably concludes my helpful input. Or is that just me being sarcastic. Its just a jab all in fun. I stop and look at them every time I make it to Cabela's or the few stores that carry them. Its the $250 that has kept me from pulling the trigger. On a ...

Re: Sitka Vest Owners
I had faith that you guys that went Sitka were minimalists but now I find out that you're just strapping crap all over the vest because it can't carry three extra shells.

Re: Searching for Vintage Turkey Shells
Scored these for my collection yesterday from a younger guy looking for some longbeard xr's. I know where to get more xr's but wont find these. I was happy with the trade. I think these are what I started with in #5 after shooting several different shells. I may even have a box of those somewhere b...

Re: 870 Jr. Mods
I believe the houge stocks are just one size and it’s to fit the stock from a 12 gauge to a 20. Could be wrong though Yes, if I were guessing, I'd say same stock as 12, cut back and spacer/adapter added to fit the 20. The photo of the 12 doesn't appear to show a spacer. I just like the color and te...

Re: 870 Jr. Mods
I like it so far but haven't used it. I don't think the spacer will be a problem because it's compressed between there pretty well but time will tell.

Re: Broadhead selection
Ive not used them for big game, but if I were hunting turkeys with a bow, I would likely shoot large cut expandable heads. However, I've never had interest in turkeys with a bow even though I've hunted deer and elk with a bow quite a bit. Shotguns and turkey heads go together. Bows and turkeys.........

Re: Remington 870 20 - choke options
Mr. Hobbes, I currently have a 870 barrel with Mr. Rose getting cut down to 18"-19" (whatever the closest post is) and will be running an IC .555 or a .570 Jellyhead depending on what patterns best with HW 7s. I have another .570 in a colonial that I could send you to try if you would lik...

Re: Remington 870 20 - choke options
The only options I have right now to pick up from the store, Cabela's in Billings, is the Carlson TSS.555 or the Cabela's.575. It's unlikely that I will buy the Cabela's brand. I wondered if anyone had experience with the Carlson .555. I don't make it to Billings often and don't have any 20 ga turk...

Re: Kansas Walk In Access
If you are looking now, you must have drawn a permit for a specific area. The last time I looked and planned was a few years ago before the new process and I was looking statewide so seemed like a lot of options.

Re: Kansas Walk In Access
I had to look to refresh my memory. If you go online to the Kansas hunting atlas and open the WIH maps, the locations outlined in red and yellow appear to have closed Jan 31 but those outlined in orange close on May 31.

Remington 870 20 - choke options
Lots of discussion on these guns lately and probably could have just added to one of those. The gun I'm setting up is the 870 20 ga, 18.5" barrel. I have a few chokes already a jelly head .570 (already dedicated to the gun with the 21" barrel), a couple hunter specialties (maybe .575 ?)and...

Re: Kansas Walk In Access
Yes, but from my one time doing it, not all WIHAs are created equally and some barely looked like turkey habitat
There should be a map for spring and seems like I was able to download to Google Earth, OnX, or Basemaps. I think I have it in Basemaps.

Re: Compact guns
Hey thanks for the thought out reply’s! I’m a little smaller dude sorta. 5’10 225lbs, lil belly ha I do worry about recoil on the short lop stock. I mainly like the shorter barrel so idk if I’m gonna pull the trigger on it. Might just try to find a gun with a shorter barrel Since I don't like the s...

I suppose it depends on how far off they are from your actual LOP. They feel like I'm shooting a Red Ryder. I've no issues with other's preferences here, just curious.

Re: Compact guns
Do all of you guys use the short stocks? I like the short barrel but have traded out for standard length stocks. I think followup shots would be more challenging for me with the short LOP. I don't need those too often (probably shouldn't say that), but when I do, I want it to be fluid without much e...

If you already have a jelly head 570 you are probably good unless you want a hotter center. Its what I have in the one that I use.
