Re: Back from Trip Home

Re: Back from Trip Home
I've killed a bunch of gobblers w/ the original Remington Hevi-Shot loads, 5's and 6's, and those shells are still the best factory waterfowl loads ever made. At 40 yards the lead difference between the 1225 fps and 1300 fps loads on a flying goose is only @ 3 inches. Hope you had a great visit hom...

Re: Back from Trip Home
We made it back today, Monday the 22nd. If not for work and needing to get the granddaughter back for school, I'd have delayed our flight back until Friday.

Re: Back from Trip Home
I'd forgotten that Dad had one of the Greenleaf MO 870s until a buddy that had admired it reminded me. The gun was traded long ago. I came across a MO sling while digging around for a gun case and wondered if it came from that gun. My online search for photos and a confirmation from someone here ind...

Re: Back from Trip Home
I heard my share of gobbling and drumming and saw my share of strutting during the week. I should have filled my second tag but apparently have forgotten how to line up double beads after using a red dot for 6 or 7 years. It was a crappy way to end the week but a good trip nonetheless. A few scenery...

Re: Back from Trip Home
Okay files aren't too big it doesn't like my copy paste from a word doc. I could have sworn I'd done it multiple times. ??? Back to the trip: I had a good trip home to visit and hunt. I was able to hunt with my brother and my nephew. I killed one gobbler and my brother killed one. I had to walk away...

Back from Trip Home
We flew in on the 12th and flew back to MT today. Digging through Dad's stash of old turkey ammo. I didn't recall him ever using the Remington HeviShot. Re: Mossberg 835 recoil
Unless there was something special about the Mossberg, I don't know how it kicked any more than an 870 Supermag with 3 1/2" turkey loads. Maybe it's lighter than them?

Mossy Oak Sling
Last year I posted photos of a Greenleaf MO 1187 that I'd found and purchased. It did not have the accompanying sling with it so I'd hoped to find a sling that matches but hadn't put much effort into it. After I bought it, a buddy of mine reminded me that my dad had an 870 in MO or Greenleaf MO back...

Re: Sharing todays frustrations
I must have missed the blaze orange. I've never used it. I'd expect it to scare the heck out of them.
