Re: October jake

Sounds like my experience. I changed to a vortex venom three seasons ago. I think I missed more birds in the three years leading up to that than I had during the 20 or so years before. I can't blame all of it on my vision because I just shot too fast on several occasions at birds that were about to ...

Re: 2020 in Montana

Hobbes, I apologize for not commenting sooner on the thread. Actually been trying to ignore it. Montana has a super special place in my heart. Have family and friends in Manhattan/Bozeman. Every year we drove up to Hinsdale/Milk river to hunt with other families and friends. Without a doubt it's no...

Re: 2020 in Montana

Could not find the bull. We finally had to hike back down before we turned into popsicles. The lowest temp that I saw on my truck was 1. The highest was about 13. We may have regretted killing a bull there, but we'd have done it. I may go back looking for one in there soon since I don't think anyone...

Re: 2020 in Montana

IMG_20201024_170803770.jpg Definitely not a good photo, but that's somewhat on purpose. :) I found a bull while glassing. He was too far to make it to him before dark. We'll look for him in the morning and hope no one else saw him. Ive been in there before, actually just a few weeks ago in archery....

Re: 2020 in Montana

Shane, You guys go through some type of time warp or what? Looks like January out there! Your partner has got a good idea. Good enough for bears! Good time for cookin' and eatin', instead of hunting! It feels like we have. I'm about to head out and do some glassing. It'll take a lot to get me out o...

Re: Cleaned Out Crisper

More good looking food. My youngest son would be perfectly happy eating rice every day of the week. This is how most forums are. There will be a spike in turkey discussions in about February. The majority of folks are hunting deer, elk, waterfowl, upland, etc this time of year and aren't talking tur...

I'd have to go light on the onion, but crab salad is always good. Especially on a hot day when you'd rather not run the stove or oven.

Re: 2020 in Montana

I've not had a problem with it. We wrap in Saran wrap then freezer paper, but burger doesn't last a year here very often. I did find some of last year's burger burried in the freezer a week or so ago that we just ate. I've left big packages for grinding also but prefer to get it over with.

Vension roast.jpgGround stuff looks great. We do venison hamburger occasionally with pork fat or bacon. Did a bacon wrapped roast in the smoker last week.
Looks good.
