2021 Wrap Up
I hate that its over already with so much of May still here, but having a young kid, a pregnant wife, and getting started building a house (great timing, I know), I'm needed in other places right now worse than the turkeys need me to give them something to laugh at. This was one of the best seasons ...

My 2020 Season
This season was...different. The virus everyone had to work around has changed almost every aspect of life, including increasing hunting pressure pretty much everywhere I went, but this was also my first season as a father. This has changed things in more ways than I could’ve imagined, from the guil...

Re: Cerakote colors?
I believe the guy that did it added it before spraying.Southern Sportsman wrote: ↑February 20th, 2020, 10:56 pm Added to it before spraying to darken it, or added to it as in trimmed in black? Looks great.

Does anyone know if you’re supposed to receive a confirmation email after applying? I got taken to a screen with a transaction number but not getting an email had me a little concerned.

I haven’t been here very long but Grumpy was one of my favorite “characters”, always had a funny comeback ready to go. Prayers for his family and friends.

One last bump and I’m done with this post. Holden Ford, born 9/10/19. Those gobblers better be ready in 2025!

Re: Hunter Numbers - random off season topic
I don’t quite believe the numbers that all the foundations are spewing. I believe that they are coming up with them, but it probably takes some “work”. Hunter numbers may be down as a percentage of the overall population, but I don’t see them going down in the woods.

He Is Risen
He knew he shouldn’t be there but couldn’t help himself. It took a lot of doing, but he had finally convinced his wife that he would make it back in time for the Easter service. It was the third morning in a row he had been chasing this stubborn gobbler, yesterday he had him in gun range but a coyot...

Re: o/u 20 gauge recommendations please
You may be familiar with them but I would be looking for one with double triggers if you’re planning on shooting two different constriction chokes. I quit shooting an o/u because I didn’t like fumbling with the barrel selector when turkeys were up close.

Re: My 2019 Season (LONG Read LOTS of Pictures)
Thanks for taking the time to read guys! I came up with the pipe after watching the Pinhoti Project. Years ago I had the idea of throwing a cigar in my deer hunting gear to smoke if I killed a big buck, but the thought never crossed my mind for turkeys. After seeing Dave and Chubbs do this I couldn’...

My 2019 Season (LONG Read LOTS of Pictures)
I don't mean for this to be a "look at me" post and I hope it doesn't come across that way at all. I consider myself to be a slightly below average turkey hunter and anyone that cares enough about it to put in the work I have would probably be more successful than me. I just can't go a day...

If you need HECS to block your own electric field, what about the camera they used to film it with? Or cellphones? Or trailcameras?

Re: Sock suggestions
I really like Darn Toughs and Wig-Wams. I haven’t tried enough of the DTs to find one thin enough my feet won’t sweat, but it’s not as big of a deal as it would be in cotton socks. They are costly but the DTs have a lifetime warranty, not sure about the WWs.

I’ve got one I’m wanting to do the same thing with, I just haven’t built up the courage yet. Did you make the pedestal the same diameter? It seems awfully large to me but I don’t know a whole lot about building calls yet. Also did you put the slots back in it?

Re: Sights on Yildiz .410 Single
It will work if anyone is curious about it. I found an adjustable Glock sight and epoxied it on. I didn’t like the big gap to line up the front bead so I filled it with a putty epoxy (I like epoxy if you can’t tell) and smoothed out a smaller gap with a drill bit while still wet. I was afraid the ov...
