Re: Classified section question

No idea why shooting related topics are in the classifieds. I saw that also and haven’t had time to move them It's all buy and sell stuff, but it's over 90% reloading and choke buy, sell or trade posts. Of the 22 on the first page I saw 3 that were non-shooting related posts. One of them was someon...

Re: Who are some of your favorite custom pot call makers?

Kind like you I have enough pots and strikers to supply a small army..I picked up a all weather pot from Chris Brumfiel last year after season,I like the call a lot..And believe Chris is majorly over looked by many. I’d also check out Nathan Taylor...Higher calling custom calls another one over loo...

Who are some of your favorite custom pot call makers?

I've grown fond of pot calls and strikers over the years. I try to collect the ones recommended by other turkey hunters as I don't pay much attention to ads. My collection so far consists of pots from Darrin Dawkins, David Halloran (not really a custom call maker), Lon Trice, Steve Morgenstern, Bust...

tried and true striker woods

I love one piece strikers and I already have more than I need. My favorite striker wood is snakewood. What is your go to striker wood on most surfaces?

Really? They are very different in size. Do you cut the Gooserbat? I can run the Gooserbat calls but the Hooks calls are so small I can't seem to keep them in place in my pallet.

I see the go to diaphragm call post hasn't been commented on in over a year so I wanted to resurrect the topic. Which diaphragm calls works best for you?

turkey hunting apparel

Each year at the end of turkey season I evaluate what I did and how I can make improvements for next year. I know it's a little odd, but this time I want to change how I dress when I go turkey hunting. I've got 3 things I'm looking for listed below. I'm into whatever. Bibs, coveralls, chaps, shirts,...

That's tricky. Thanks!

Mossberg magazine cap swivel

Hi folks,

Where can you get a swivel that can go in the magazine cap for a Mossberg pump? I purchased a gun that has the cap with the hole, but no sling swivel attachment. See picture of cap.

spring turkey hunting boots

Hi folks. I hunt in the spring in SE Virginia and NE North Carolina. Looking for a lightweight pair of boots that breath, are water-resistant/waterproof, and uninsulated. I hate hot feet, but wet feet and socks are miserable too. Any recommendations?

Re: dipping a gun with decals

I aint sure that would work once the dip is dry, then how would you get the decals off without cracking tearing the dip? maybe have to cut the decal edge and then peel? Been thinking about that. May have to take an exacto knife and run the edge of the decal. May be more trouble than it's worth...

dipping a gun with decals

I'm getting ready to dip my own gun. I was thinking of putting some vinyl decal turkey tracks on the gun before I dip it, as the base primer would likely be tan and the camo pattern is pretty dark. Once I dip the gun and it is dry, I'd peel off the decals and then spray on my clear coat. I see some ...

Old post but I thought I'd let you know that I have a Vortex Venom 3MOA and a 3MOA Burris FF III that I'll be mounting on my 2 Mossberg 835s using Sumtoy mounts for this year. Couldn't decide on a brand so I got both. Can't wait to try them out.

I've read more than once that the TruGlo Gobblestopper is hard to zero. I believe it now. Multiple adjustments and the damned pattern stays where it is. Never seen anything like it.

I'm looking hard at the 12x50 Diamondbacks now. I have a buddy that can get a hunter safety discount that's fairly substantial.

Lessons from my first turkey season

As our seasons draw to a close I'd like to reflect on my lessons my first year of turkey hunting. 1. Pattern your shotgun. My son missed two birds by the time we realized it may be the gun. I've always shot doves, deer, and ducks with shotguns with good success. Never considered zeroing-in a shotgun...

Trick out my 835 ulti-mag

I have noticed that there's a following of sorts for the Mossberg 835 ultimag among turkey hunters. I've had my old 835 in storage for years. I purchased it the first year they came out, back in the early 90s I think. I want to turn it into a turkey gun. It's a plain gun, blued with wooden stock and...

This is the fir...
