SS Calls Trio

Post by SCtrkyhntr »

I just got these calls in the mail from Al and as usual they are absolute killers. All three are european beech and butternut and I am proud to add them to the collection. I had calls from SS before I received these and I will have more after these. If anyone is looking for a new scratcher or box calls you should definately give these guys a look. Every thing that leaves there shop is top notch!

I could not agree more Dusty!

Al and his son Josh make F A N T A S T I C turkey calls! My favorite (no surprise to Al or Josh or anyone that has hunted with me) is the SS Old Hen scratch box. Some may balk at a scratch box but I assure you, these scratch boxes are the real deal (and pretty inexpensive at around $30). Get one! (or two or three!).

I have always loved scratch boxes, and I have several good ones but the 3 SS scratch boxes I have are my best 3.

Got to agree with y'all on the scratch calls. No two sound exactly alike, but they all sound great.

Is that box made out of 2 peices of wood?
Looks like a routed out block with a chalked up dowel?

Yes box is hollow with sound holes and slots. There are different variations of holes/slots depending on the call maker.

I see your Widow Maker in there Dusty! 8-) Another good one but I still favor my SS scratchers. :D

Yeah a couple widow makers in there. The one with slate on the striker is a rare widow maker craig gave me when we hunted together down here one day. I like the three SS scratchers and the Scott Bashore scratch box better than the widow makers.
