I guess I may as well shoot em' on my front lawn at night, when the set the motion light on while they have their "salad" before going fer' their dinner in the nests
ever wonder where the white goes when the snow melts??
Re: Deer must die
I feed the deer at my house every day & have for 27 years. I know the 11 members of this herd on sight and they know me. The great, great, grand daughter of the first wild deer that ever ate from my hand visits every day. I can call them like dogs & if they're within hearing distance, they come. But, if I'm off my property and in the woods, they tail up & run away, so I'm not worried about them losing fear of humans. As easily as I can move around the deer, I'm going to try an experiment with chicken eggs just to see if they eat them, how they act & react.
I still hunt deer, just not the ones around my house. I feel like since I take from somewhere, I need to give back somewhere else. That place is at my property.
If I knew how to post a link to a video of me feeding the deer here, I would. But I'm technology challenged & more a trailing edge than leading edge technology kinda guy. I can knap a stone spear point faster than I can back up a computer. Just sayin'.

Re: Deer must die
Interesting, Jim! My Uncle does the same in northeast Wi. Been feeding them for ever. He doesn’t hand feed them, but when he walks out to the outbuilding and gets the corn, they are waiting on the edge of the woods for their meal. Morning and afternoons. Amazing sight!
My guess is that they don’t touch your eggs. Nothing to base it on other than a hunch!

Hope this works. Give a monkey a stick of dynamite and a pack of matches, & eventually there will be a boom.
This is what I do every day, rain, shine, snow, sleet. I run a feeder when I'm out of town. This video was done a few years ago. The doe eating from my hand was killed on veterans day a couple of years ago. She was 13 years old when somebody took her out. I knew her since she was 3 weeks old. They're not endangered and they're not pets. We just have an agreement that I'm fool enough to feed them and they grace me with their presence. It's like birds coming to a bird feeder to me. I have learned an awful lot about deer by paying attention to their behavior and personalities. I have also checked their reactions to different brands of attractants and buck lures.
At the time this video was shot, the bucks were close to shedding their velvet and the does were trying to chase the young bucks out of the herd before they get too aggressive.
