Re: Smokeless Muzzleloader???
Have to grind the ears thinner (tabs) on the forearm to fit over the locking barrel lug that I use on my Enore to keep pin from spinning.
once that is done I will be closer to getting it sighted in. It came with a muzzle brake but you cant shoot it when using sabots.. so I sent it home with my son to see if it comes close to fitting his threaded barrels.

Re: Smokeless Muzzleloader???
Better than me. I have shot lots of sub MOA groups, out to 300 yards. Shot 3 does and 2 bucks with it, this year.

I’m looking forward to sighting this in and getting it ready for my nieces and daughter to get out and kill one yet this year.
Will post up how it shoots

Furtherest I’ve shot one was 175. Every deer so far with it is drt. The bullet reminds me of the Berger VLD design.hoobilly wrote:How far have you stretched that bullet out???arhuntingfool wrote: ↑December 25th, 2018, 6:40 pm I have a Jeff Hankins CVA hunter 45-70 conversion. 302 grain bullet at 2600fps. Re: Smokeless Muzzleloader???
I would like to see that bullet. My son killed his buck with my encore 209x50 using the 245gn Barnes I really would love to have a Barnes bullet in this Encore smokeless. But BigSpurs68 said it shoots so good with the sabot and the 200gn Hornady SST I probably won't mess around treating with it. When we get the CVS V2's ready then I will do some testingarhuntingfool wrote: ↑December 30th, 2018, 12:59 pmFurtherest I’ve shot one was 175. Every deer so far with it is drt. Re: Smokeless Muzzleloader???
Since 2014 I’ve been using only a smokeless ML
I’ll never shoot BP again outside of PA’s flintlock season.
Bullethead and I went through a dozen or more sabot-bullet combos for my Blued Savage before finding the right one.
Paid in full for a Hankins “in stock” Encore Brux barrel 45/70 HIS conversion in October, plus other goodies, but have yet to see it so I cannot comment on it as of yet.

Is that the guy in dry ridge ky?mrlongbeard wrote: ↑December 11th, 2018, 4:25 pm I have 2 Encore 45/70 smokeless conversions done by Jeff Hankins. They shoot lights out, incredibly accurate. My second he did for me was back in my hands 5 days from when I shipped it. Can’t say enough about his work and professionalism.

lets see pictures of the brux converted when its all done and set up. Looking for warm weather and turkey season to be over then I will be getting this Encore dialed in for fall.

looking forward to it
question.. was it Sloppy that talked you about the brux conversion via Hankins?
I know he and I talked about the brux barrels a month or so ago and about Hankins etc
I will probably do a CVA SS 45/70 conversion through ASG

Re: Smokeless Muzzleloader???
I never talked to anyone who owned or shot a Hankins smokeless ML. I knew of Hankins, and several other guys dabbling in custom smokeless MLs.
Sloppy did indeed mention him to me and reignited my interest in getting something in addition to my Savage.
I remain convinced that IF there was a problem with Savage MLs it was with the SS barrels, big if. With respect to the reported Savage ML failures I highly suspect either user error vs plain vindictive libel.

but user error would be easy to do with guys not knowing the difference in weighting powder vs volume

Hoo,
You need to check in with your Indiana neighbor. Contact Jeff Fisk ( 812-571-0280 ) at Be Still Creations. He is top notch when it comes to SML.
