Proud American

Proud to be an American on Omaha Beach this day! On this spot on a day in early June 1944 the gates of Hell opened for a time and these men stood in the breech. Thanks to them we are free! May God rest and keep them.

Can’t imagine what those Heroes went through! So young, so brave, so proud.... My God, the sacrifices that they made.
We are forever indebted to those young Men.
No kneeling here!

Awesome, greatest generation and they're dieing fast. Sal and I were talking about it the other day, cannot imagine getting that order.

Our senior trip we went to DC I wanna go back to Arlington and Vietnam memorial. I'll never get overseas as I won't fly but I'd be awesome. Thanks for sharing

Truly sacred ground with fewer and fewer of those who survived the horror still living today as the years go by. A few decades ago when my youngest brother-in-law was bicycling France, he had been advised before he left Georgia for the trip to tell locals he was Canadian rather than American because of anti-American sentiments. In Normandy he was embraced by locals because he was from America. Gil

Great pic. One of my grandfathers is buried at Arlington. My other grandpa just passed this April. He was part of the 82nd airborne.
