Kent tungsten shotgun shells

Post by OLE RASPY »

Didn’t know Kent company was producing tungsten shells. Hell I guess they are. I was in Mexico hunting goulds turkey. That’s what the outfitter used. We shot the guns before our first hunt. I shot a 870 Supermag with Carlson’s choke. Guide handed me 4 Kent shells. I looked at them but all I seen was Kent. Nothing else. I thought well this ain’t gonna shoot worth a crap. Cause I’ve tryed them out of my guns at home and 40 yards wasn’t very good. Maybe 2 pellets in a turkey head target at 40
Anyway he said they were tungsten. I shot a turkey head target placed on a hay bale at 40 and the results was great. I didn’t take a picture of target but it was tore up. Everybody else shot the same shell to. Done good. I killed my bird with it. Anybody got any insight on this? Is it tungsten?

Probably their Tungsten Matrix. It’s an alloy blend of some sort, with tungsten in it. It’s a little less dense than lead. Glad it worked for ya!

Do they have a shell that will compete with the old Activ 3" 2 1/4 oz. 12 ga. shell?

1 1/4 oz. pheasant loads would do just as good, maybe better, definitely couldn't be any worse.

We tried those things in 3 different guns with terrible results each time.
