To hell with any more laws limiting freedom. If a grown man wants to play with dolls, that's his business. The only victim is the one who cheated himself of a fuller experience.

I actually prefer calling them in and not using any decoys.

Had there been an option of "no decoys or visual aids of any kind" on your list, that is what I "probably" would have chosen. Since it wasn't, I chose the "no more new rules" option.

I say "probably" because I am one who does carry a fan and have had some amazing encounters with turkeys as a result. To quickly clarify, I am not a "reaper". I don't use the fan to try to sneak up on turkeys. I use it as a "subtle" tool in providing additional encouragement to a gobbler, if needed. In terms of visual aids, that fan is all I need,...if I need it. It takes the place of any sort of other decoy in any situation. In short, it is an "all in one" visual (and sound) aid that fits in one pocket.

I am also a hunter that does not need to kill every gobbler that comes to a call,...or a fan. I have let way more gobblers walk away after having them approach to within sure killing distance than I have ever shot. I would like to think that I have educated an awful lot of gobblers to not just walk up willy-nilly to something that looks like a turkey.

In my opinion, what we need to be worried about in the turkey hunting world is the "body counters",....those guys that will mow down every gobbler they can reap or attract to a gobbler decoy or fan (or even a hen decoy) just to say they put X number of notches in their gun this spring.

So the bottom line for me is that, even though I really enjoy those close-up encounters with gobblers that occur because I occasionally flash a fan at them, I am confident enough in my calling and turkey hunting abilities that I would be willing to give that up if it would save a bunch of gobblers from the "body counters" that use ANY sort of visual aid to increase their kill numbers.

Any time they pass a new law of any type it takes another little bit of our freedoms, never vote to pass any law regardless of what it is, there will always be strings attached and future amendments made until they get what they started out to get in the first place.

I don't like for people to tell me how to hunt and I won't infringe on their rights. As long as the turkey population is sustainable, I really don't care how you hunt (legally).

If they outlaw the gobbler decoy or all decoys for that matter, it's great with me....But they need to make TSS illegal also. How can you justify banning decoys when you have a load that will kill 80 plus yards in the gun???

I don't understand why everyone gets wrapped around the axle over TSS, decoys and reaping, it's all legal. Just because you don't like something, doesn't mean that others shouldn't. :violent1:

Its because if us poor slobs couldn't use them then they could show us who the real turkey hunters are ! :D  :LMAO:

Kinda like fly fisherman and stickbow shooters an elite group for sure !

The rest of us uneducated, unwashed and prospective Darwin award winners are ruining the resource by cheating and killing all their birds and we should be ashamed of ourselves ! :geek:

Plus its fun in the off season now can we get back to talking about how hunting shows are ruining hunting or crossbows are the devils work !

That's funny that you mention crossbows, before everyone could carry them I remember heated discussions about them. Which, I never understood either. At the time, the FPS was roughly the same as a compound. The only benefit of a crossbow for me is that I can turkey hunt like I would with a shogun and not have to worry about getting caught drawing back. I started out bow hunting deer, I didn't look down at gun hunters. I think that people should think about what they are about to say. :slap:

I think reaping/fanning is very dangerous! I just voted on #4.
