Winchester SX3 and TSS

Post by norINhunter »

Finally got a chance to put some on paper. Shot three chokes factory full, patternmaster black cloud full .690, and IC .665. Factory full and pm weren't ideal it had a nice consistent spread but wasn't quite what I was looking for. However my IC.665 was pretty nasty. Did 385 in 10" and 200 plus in 10-20". When I get back from TN I'll do some more testing with something around .680 and see what it looks like.

On a side note I'd like to thank Shooter for his help and appreciate his patience and answering my rookie questions.

Awesome pattern!!! But a little more wiggle room up close would be good. Somewhere around 250-275 in the 20"

I'd like to open it up a hair but at this point I'll run with it and go. Where I do a majority of my hunting (field edges etc. we don't have very large tracts of timber) it should work fine. I shot it at 22yds and it wasn't absurdly tight.

Got to test one last time before season gets under way in a week. Packed it down better before crimping no longer getting shot rattling around. Really happy with it and the 10-20" ring saw a 10% improvement.

Open it up! You need about 70/ 80 of those 10 inch hits in the 20. It'd still be tight enough to kill em as far as TSS will kill, and you'll kill more close birds/birds you would otherwise whiff at because of a rushed shot. I shoot a browning trap special, in my Sx3. It's open at close ranges and a turkey's not outrunning it   :D

Duly noted and taken under advisement. Not enough time to tweak now. Guess I'll have to focus harder if they get tight.
