Surgery is set for tomorrow. If any are up to it, I'd love some prayers to guide the doc's hands and bless my leg for healing...

Good luck. Hopefully with a skilled Surgeon, rehab, and prayers, you will make a speedy and complete recovery in time to spread some feathers.

Hope all turns out well Hal ! I twisted my knee dragging out a deer the other night and now the doc says he believes I tore something so sending me for an mri but I probably won't get in for 6 weeks and then about a year to wait for surgery so things aren't all bad for you. Plus I am heading back to Ks. in a week to try and get that big boy with the bow I coudn't in November !!

Thanks for the prayers and wishes everyone. The doc says it went well. But the pain block wore off this morning, and I'm feeling it now... in spite of the oxy condone....

Fall/winter season just ended

Post by hawglips »

Just got back from a doc visit. He took the stitches out and is going to let me start putting a little weight on it in about two weeks. And I straight up asked him if I would be able to hike in the mountains in May. He said I may be able to if rehab goes well. That made me feel better.

Hawg, I ain't no Doc, but don't do like I did. They had me immobilize my arm and leg way too long, and it all froze up.
Now it has been a year and 4 months, and my quad muscles won't stretch back out and let my leg bend very much!! :banghead:
The scar tissue in my arm has grown together and only have about 60 degrees of movement.
Since it has been over two weeks of healing, you should be able to start moving it around a little with no danger of tearing it loose.
The sooner you can get it moving again, the more movement you will have down the road after it is fully healed.

Tommy, I hate you are having to deal with all that. Hang in there.

I went to see the doc yesterday, and he told me to start putting some weight on my leg, but only in the boot. Said in 3 weeks he wants to start rehab. Told me in the meantime to move my foot around a lot and flex the foot, stretching the tendon, but not to apply any outside force to the flex. He mentioned scar tissue and keeping it from freezing up.

Glad to see things are healing up well Hal !

Ya scar tissue issues are the worst. Had that in my shoulder and when it finally tore loose I thought I ripped the tendon off again but after it was freed up it sure got the rehab and everything else going better. There was a lady there that had her shoulder done same as me. She stopped coming because of the scar tissue pain. On my last week there I saw her she had returned to try and get therapy going again. She could barely move her arm and man I was glad I wasn't going to be there to see what she was going to have to go through then ! On my second shoulder surgery once the 3 week imobolization stage was over and I could start working it I did a lot more than with the first and it healed up way quicker ! Just can't wait to see haw it goes with a knee now !

I can walk some without the crutches and every day it's feeling a little stronger. I got a call from a buddy who has a pop up blind and a field up in VA where he says some turkeys have been using. He's tempting me to come up there and ride in his 4 wheeler to sit in the blind. I'm thinking about doing that...
