Stud Of A Deer!

Thought some of you who have never seen one would like to see this. My Niece sent this to me yesterday. She lives on Big Pine Key, home of the Key Deer. She said he comes to her house everyday to eat Tangerines. This is a stud by local standards.

That is neat. Having lived in a few states and different kinds of habitat, I find it interesting how everyone compares racks. Everywhere ain't IA, but they're all great animals. I have a little FL 8pt on my wall that people wonder about next to the bigger racks. You have to explain that it's just as much a biggun as the others.

I want one! Cute little fella. He looks like he’s about the size of a lab. What are the average weights of these deer? Thanks for sharing, I’ve never seen one.

Bucks run about 50-70 lbs and does about 40-60.

I worked in Key West back in the early 90’s
They weren’t much bigger than my Labrador

Warm climate states and cold winter states: it is never a comparison on deer bodies and racks.
Hunting bragging is regional.

Yup, Key deer are protected. Hurricane Irma impacted the area around Big Pine Key habitat as well. Couple of Bozos from Miami area went down there a while back and caught a couple, doe and a buck and threw them in there trunk. They got busted with them in the car. Doe had to be put down due to a broken leg. The buck was released. These guys were moronic, guess they were going to either keep them as pets or sell them to some other character. Oh well, at least they are not out in the woods causing other problems for the rest of us.

That's a nice Key deer. I lived on Big Pine for 5 years. I used to rattle them in all the time. Had a upstairs deck that wrapped around the whole house. I always wanted to fling an arrow at one but never did. The neighbors would have strung me up. They really aren't that much smaller than the rest of the deer in Florida now. They don't have a hard life anymore, haven't ate mangroves in years. They live off everyone's ornamental shrubs and lawn grass. Sometimes they would try and get groceries out of your car as you were carrying other groceries up stairs.

that would be hilarious to see them dragging out groceries
