Looking for opinions on a climbing tree stand for bow hunting. What do you guys use. Have owned and used Ol’Man for 28yrs. What else is out there that is quiet, easy and safe. Comfort ranks high and would appreciate lower weight( the ol’ man Is 29lbs!).

I haven't used a climber in probably15-16 years.


Fell asleep in a Ol Man climber while deer hunting down in Alabama back then. comfortable!

From a safety standpoint it’s hard to beat the ol man. The thing I like about them is that I can see the blades are securely biting into the tree while climbing. For comfort I would go with the summit. Been using a safety rope for several years now after watching hunter in wheelchair after bad fall. Highly recommend safety harness and rope

I have a Summit Viper SD. I haven't used it in a couple of years, but it is super comfortable. Once you get it locked in then it is solid. Below is a link to it. I would also recommend getting the climbing stirrups and foot rest. For some reason I think mine came with those all in one package.

Back when I did that I had one of the original Loggy Bayou. If I did again, I'd want another. I think Lone Wolf is the lightweight choice these days, but I never used one.

I used a lone wolf climber for years when the only place I had access wouldn't allow permanent stands and it was great being so light just remember to make sure the bottom and top are secured to each other LOL

here in northern Indiana its hard to find a tree straight up with out branches up high enough to make a climber worth using. if you do find one, its not a good spot especially for bow

Summit or Lone Wolf. Hard to beat Lone Wolf for the light weight and ease of packing in and out of the woods. I used a Summit for years, a sit / stand style climber and it was secure, and solid. Excellent quality. Good hunting buddy had a Lone Wolf and though I never used it personally, hunted with him many times, and he was very pleased with the design and climbing security.

Thanks Everyone. The Summit Viper keeps coming up in conservation w/ no bad words said. Camoman, thanks for the lookup- I’ve already prepped my DevotedBride as to a stand so now all I have to do is show her this! Next time u swing close to Lauderdale Co give me a holla spring or fall!

summit viper is a top notch stand, I have 6 of them myself. they do, however, wrap all the way around in front so a straight down shot with a bow is tough. summit does have a more friendly bowhunting stand if that is what you are after.
