Old Lynch Call

Post by Cowanortho »

My uncle recently gave me an old Lynch box call which sat for years on a shelf in my grandfather's camp house. The call is in good condition and sounds great. The only markings are hand written, ML Lynch, Homewood, Al. My understanding is Mr. Lynch starting making calls in his basement in the late 30's before starting commercial production in the early 40's. I would appreciate any additional information on this call and a value estimate. I have no intentions of selling but cannot find any info on value.
Thank you!

I am posting a link for a Facebook page (Turkey Call Trader/collector), this would be an excellent place to post it for information. I have posted a couple of calls on there and the members are very helpful and knowledgeable.

The older Lynch calls are very collectible. With the Homewood calls being the earliest. Then Birmingham, AL and lastly the MS calls. Homewood calls indicate a date of late 1940's or earlier usually. If it has any drawing, painting, etc on it or signatures that ups the value. Is it a World Champion or a Foolproof? Also changes value. You should be able to get a few hundred with no problems, what ever it is, if everything checks out. Some of the rare ones that he did artwork and stuff on or something really unusual go for stupid $$. Homewood calls do show up but rarely. A really cool and valuable call and a great old collectible call with a lot of good memories. Doesn't get better than that. Here is couple links with some history and such.

I was able to send pictures and speak with Allen Jenkins, prior owner on Lynch Calls.
He thinks the call in question is a very early version made
between 1939 - 1942 in Mr. Lynch’s basement. He is aware of only 8-9 of these early calls still around. He indicated the call originally came is a hand made box. I am going back to the old camp house to look. The call is now locked away for safe keeping.
