A Few Collectibles

Post by HunterGKS »

These are a few of the odds-n-ends I have collected over the years that relate to turkey hunting.

Very cool! I wished I would have started a collection of calls and older calls years ago, then I wouldn't be so far behind today!

Thx. I started sometime in the early 90s & have someplace north of 400 calls. Several years ago, I contacted them to see about donating my collection when the time comes. The response: "Tell me what you have & I'll tell you what I want." I responded with 2 words. Then I talked with a friend in the higher echelons at a conference & told him that I was thinking of donating the calls to different chapters so they could action them off. His response: "Great that money will help the super fund." I responded with the same 2 words. Prolly just give them to jakes & what-not.

I'll give you a hint: The 2nd word was "you." :slap: I'm the 1 on the right. The left is the other guy. :LMAO:

Nice collection. I've had some interesting things come through my hands over the years and disappear. I had an old signed D.D. Adams slate and couple of old friction calls that were the inspiration of Ben Lee's Super Hen series. They were made by a woman from Mississippi who carved them out of Magnolia. I wish I could remember her name. The lettering on the calls had some letters backwards and I don't believe it was intentional. Heavens knows where that stuff ended up. Out of my six Neil Cost calls that I had, I have the first one I bought in 1978 from him for $25 and another one from 1994 that cost a little more. I decided years ago not to "collect" turkey hunting "stuff" unless I intended to use it, but I sure like what you've done over the years. Gil

Thx Gil. I don't actively collect any more as I already have too much stuff but I do enjoy sharing the pics of what I do have.

Very nice collection, some very unique items that I have never seen before. Thanks for sharing. I have some collectables and old calls that I will have to post pictures of.
