I read an article a long time ago about how to correctly apply resin to a box call.
Does anyone do this or know how? Instead of chalk?

Re: Resin on a box call
One trick some old timers used is chalk for a fiddle bow. This chalk has a resin added to help bow strands which are usually horse hair bite on the strings. When applied to a box call lid the lid will hold chalk longer as well as bite the sides more aggressively. I'm not about to put it on my quality box call lids, but have used it on some cheap box calls to improve sound and get the bite I wanted for purrs.
