Child Sized Pot Call

Post by turkeyvet »

Does anyone have a suggestion for a small sized pot caller? My 7 year old has a hard time gripping my traditional sized pot calls and I was hoping to get him something easier to hold in his hand.

Also, what do you recommend as the easiest surface for him to learn on?

Mike Yingling makes a smaller pot. Peck Martin makes a tiny little kids slate pot.

Primos makes the Lil' Duece. The Hardy Lil' Purr is slate over glass. Slate is probably the easiest surface to use.

The old Lynch Jet Slate can be used by small hands as well.

Primos makes the sonic dome. My 8yo daughter plays it. I thought I remember that hooks made a small pot called the sal Manila. Maybe Tom can correct me. I looked at their site and did not see it.

Funny you should mention this, Sal has the smallest hands ever.. She stretches her hands to the extent on a full sized pot that she baffles the sound instead of creating a sound channel.. Steve Morganstern had some prototype calls in a smaller pot he sent her last year and they were awesome laid waste to gobblers across the country.. We came out with one of them this year in a crystal and it is flat out great, as good as any big pot..

Brice they run really well, I will probably tote mine a bunch this year as I go vestless and its perfect to slip into a cargo pocket for a quick hunt.. Really not really anything given up over a larger pot..

Steve also sent Sal a Shiny Aluminum in the small pot last year, when I saw it I thought it would be a squeaker but it ran really really well..

I sent the link to my niece to order a couple. Want one for my daughters bday as a surprise.

I like the idea of using a smaller call. the first call I killed a gobbler with was the lil deuce slate & carbon striker. not sure who wound up with it.. I may have given it away.
