Who makes the best most realistic crow sounding call? Nothing plastic either. Affordable reliable piece for locating turkeys and killing crows both

Larry Proffitt recommended ML Walker from Spindale, NC, which is just north of me. I called a few years ago and went up wife my wife and ended buying 2 at $40 ea, I believe. Good calls !! Don't know if he's still alive yet or not??
Ended going back and my wife bought one of his custom made fiddles and she put a different bridge on it to make it a violin .. no orchestra has invited her to play with them yet

If you can't get the turkeys to come in for to shoot one, I got to tell ya, the crows are harder to call in than the turkeys.

Back in Michigan, I took a bear & fox & bobcat & coyote huntin' buddy, to scout turkeys on the roost gobblin' at day break.

I owl called .. gobble . gobble .. he smiled, I crow called, gobble . gobble .. he smiled more .. I walked to the back of my pick-up and let the tail gate slam down .. and nothing

Walked up to him and said .. well 2 out of 3 isn't bad :LMAO: :LMAO: :LMAO:

About the only crows here are the big flocks that fly through the area in the fall, non stop heading south.

I went to Mike Batteys Wildtalker game calls website, and can't for the life of me figure out how to actually buy one of his crow calls. Does anyone have a contact e-mail or phone number for him?

Last time I had an exchange with him was through facebook. This is not a comment on crow calls. I don't carry one when turkey hunting.

The most I do with a crow call when hunting is yell at those that fly 6' off the ground to let them know I am not a turkey. This usually makes the crow start using its box call for some reason I don't understand.

I really like JLM, Jack Mincey crow calls due to the cedar mouthpiece which is like the old Faulk's. Gibson's are great calls. As a young hunter, I learned to call crows and to mimic owls by utilizing my vocal cords and pushing air w/ my diaphragm which is why I don't carry a crow or ow calls when turkey hunting.

I don't use them a lot anymore but have tried a bunch over the years. One of the best I ever tried was made by Jim Smith, Smiths Game Calls in Pa. Not sure he is still alive but it was a superb call. Wood, handmade. Mite be one floating around out there somewhere.
