SAUSAGE, RED BEANS, RICE, CABBAGE
It’s been awhile since I posted a recipe or even tried anything new for that matter so I decided to go for it today.
SAUSAGE, RED BEANS, RICE, and CABBAGE
INGREDIENTS
1 Pound Jalapeño & Cheddar Smoked Sausage
1 Head Cabbage cut into sections
1 Bunch Green Onions Chopped
1 Tablespoon Oregano
½ Tablespoon Salt
½ Tablespoon Pepper
1 Family Sized Zatarain’s New Orleans Style Red Beans & Rice
2 Tablespoons Butter
Water – Enough to reach the top mark of the pressure cooker
5 Cups Cabbage Broth saved from cooking the cabbage
DIRECTIONS
NOTE: For steps 1-4, follow the directions for your pressure cooker.
1. Place cabbage sections in a pressure cooker adding oregano, salt, pepper, & water to the top mark.
2. Heat on high until the weight starts to rock then reduce the heat until the weight is gently rocking.
3. Cook for 4 minutes then CAREFULLY move the cooker to the sink & run cold water over it until all steam has been released
4. Remove cooker lid &, move the cabbage to a 4-Quart pot saving 5 cups of the broth.
5. Add the beans & rice, butter, sausage, onions, & broth to the cabbage stirring to combine all the ingredients.
6. Heat to boiling then reduce heat & simmer for 25 minutes or until the beans are tender.
7. ENJOY!!!! (corn bread would go great with this)

I lived in Mississippi for a while in my younger days. Never cared for red beans and rice, but I would definitely give this a try.
You had me at cabbage. Cabbage is to a Yankee, as what red beans and rice are to a southerner.

Re: SAUSAGE, RED BEANS, RICE, CABBAGE
I can't see the pictures, but it sounds great. I love red beans and rice and this is a little different. I don't have a pressure cooker, but I'm gonna wing it on the stove top. Thanks!

Re: SAUSAGE, RED BEANS, RICE, CABBAGE
The original post was created back in 2016 when photobucket was still free.
They went to pay-to-play & I pulled all the pics. Too much trouble to go back,
figure out what strings need updated, download the pics to another site &
then update the posts.
I was able to add the pics quickly by adding them here.

I appreciate you going to the trouble, George. It looks even better than it sounds and like I said, it sounded good. I've definitely got to try it now. Thanks!
