One gun

If you could only pick one gun to turkey hunt the rest of your life what would it be?

Remington 870 youth model 20 gauge. Versatile gun with today's lead and TSS, very compact with youth stocks and 21 inch barrel, it's a dream to shoot and carry in the woods.

Yildiz TK36 single-shot .410. A 40+ yard turkey killer that sips a pound of TSS into 18-19 handloads of 13/16 to 7/8 oz. At 3 lbs., 4 oz. it is tailor made to my style of turkey hunting. Gil

I've been hunting with a Remington 11-87 SPST nwtf 25th Anniversary model for 22
years &, unless it falls apart, I will shoot my last shot from it.

My Yildiz 410. It is hard to beat and a pleasure to carry. It also packs a serious punch with TSS 10s.

Right now I’d have to say my yildiz youth 20 o/u. Is short, it’s light and I can load it with very little to no noise. It’s a joy to carry and it’s short for easy maneuvering. I have my choice of 2 chokes/shell combos for close up and further out. It was not a whole lot of $ so if something happens to it I’m not going to be to worried about messing up an expensive gun. Other than the terrible dip job on it, it’s great

If TSS is around always, my Bobwhite 28.

If the future of shot is uncertain, Browning Maxus 26”. It’ll pattern lead, Hevi, and TSS.

If I had to choose just one gun for all needs for the rest of my days. It would be a Maxus. I love all of mine, I thought the Gold's were the best guns ever made until the Maxus came out. Then again I thought the Auto5 was the best gun ever made until the Gold came out. So I might be a little biased.

Agreed, I own both. Early 1990’s H&K imported guns. My super 90 20ga has wood stocks though.
Turkey hunted with the SBE1 until I started loading tss. Wouldn’t trade them for anything.
Still use the SBE1 for waterfowl. Never a malfunction with either.

If I had to go with one gun, I'd stay with an 870 12 ga. I can load up or down with TSS or use enough lead to make it deadly at 40. I've carried both a 21" barrel 12 and 20. Yes the 12 is heavier, but not enough to slow me down or hold me back. The 20 is nice, but it only does what a 12 can by using TSS.

Id kick the 410 and the 20 ga to the curb .... It would be my Maxus 3.5 . shoots about everything to same poa and will flop them way to far with hevi shot who knows hiw far with TSS because I only shoot Hevishot or Longbeards out of it so far since TSS is way overkill in a 12 ga loading .

Even though I prefer semi autos and love my Weatherbys, if its one gun. Its gonna be an 870 20 ga youth. Tough as nails and easy to maintain and clean.

Maxus 3.5. I haven't carried it in a few years due to my Affinity Compact 20 gauge but the Maxus is just slightly heavier, eats whatever I shove in it, and is lethal to 40+ with lead, Hevi, or TSS.
