Raising a Dent
I have a very small dent in one of the barrels of my Beretta O/U grouse gun/gobbler getter. Who would you recommend to fix it? Barrels are chrome lined, of course. I live in NC, but will obviously ship the gun wherever it needs to go. Thanks.

Re: Raising a Dent
I have never had to do this before so I don’t have much for advice. Maybe call Briley and ask them their thoughts

Re: Raising a Dent
You need to find a gunsmith with the correct tooling for this.
BUT... if you have an extra $467.99 laying around, buy the dent raising tool. It's not cheap (hence my advice to find a gunsmith with this tool or equivalent).

For the uninformed, do not let a "garage gunsmith" use a backbore reamer in your barrel. If they do, your barrel's wall thickness (at the dented location) will be thinner, possibly unsafe.
Cheers!

Re: Raising a Dent
I dented a barrel on a mossberg 500 20. Old man next door grabbed a slug and shot it into the hillside, dent was gone. Not sure that was the best plan but it corrected my issue.

And that would almost certainly remove the chrome lining at the dent.Sloppy_Snood wrote: ↑February 8th, 2019, 10:07 am You need to find a gunsmith with the correct tooling for this.

ANY dent removal of a chromed lined barrel will require re-chroming the bore (if the dent is substantial enough). Chrome electroplating is NOT a flexible metal and will crack upon removing the dent. Some or all the chrome may remain, but it will most likely flake or crack off the barrel's steel substrate surface once the dent is removed. Re-chroming a single location within the bore may or may not be difficult. Briley gunsmiths will know but I can guarantee this won't be inexpensive.
