Rem 870 20ga Base?

Post by Spurred »

I’m drilling and tapping a rem 870 20 gauge and wanted to see what base fits on top. Thanks, guys.

EGW and Sumtoy and or a Marlin 336 base for a red dot

^^^ Yes and yes ^^^

Any of those will suit you fine but if you're looking for the lowest profile I'd go with the Burris FF mount for the Marlin 336 (model 410333). I'll be swapping from a Warne scope ring base (Marlin 336) with FF picatinny/Weaver adapter to the FF 336 base before season rolls around. The Warne setup worked fine but I prefer a lower profile mount that's closer to the SpeedBead mount on my 870 12 ga.

I’ve got two of the Burris bases for the Marlin 336 and like them fine, but I’m fairly certain the sumtoy base mounts just as low. And he now offers one-piece base with the protective side guards built in.

My FF3 is on marlin 336 and it’s really solid. Haven’t had any problems

I am considering tapping and drilling the same gun. Have you had any negative reports about the receiver being too thin to hold screws permanently?
