Replacement Trigger for an 870 Express Magnum Shotgun
Replacement Trigger for an 870 Express Magnum Shotgun
The one I have has a hard trigger pull, I see there are replacement triggers for this shotgun, curious if anyone on here has done the replacement to get a 2-4 lb. trigger pull. Thanks

I haven't done the trigger replacement so I can't help there.
But here's another option if your interested. I've replaced four of mine and it was a big improvement. And easy to install.

Re: Replacement Trigger for an 870 Express Magnum Shotgun
I've done two Timney trigger kits, one for an 870 and one for an 11-87 and am very happy with the results. I set the pull to about 3.5 lbs. On the two I did, the Timney sears were a lot better than the stock sears that had a lot of creep. So not only was the pull a lot less, but the triggers now have a much nicer break. If your trigger is just heavy but with a clean break, then the spring kit guesswho linked is a much less expensive option and easy to switch out.

I do this spring replacement in all my 870s. End up usually with a 3 to 3.5 lb trigger pull. And not bad on the wallet either.

I just ordered the MCARBO sear spring today for this shotgun, the original trigger pull on this gun is crazy heavy so we will see what this spring does, any pull reduction would be great so if this drops it to 3.5 lbs. that will be terrific, thanks for the reply guesswho

I went cheap and did the MCARBO spring. Gotta a pull weight reduction but not—in my unmeasured estimation—anywhere close to a 3.5 lb break. Better for sure, but still a crappy trigger...Grumpy wrote: ↑January 27th, 2018, 6:05 pmguesswho wrote: ↑January 19th, 2018, 1:04 pm I haven't done the trigger replacement so I can't help there.

I've threatened to do the spring
But a lousy trigger makes a great excuse for misses

I got the spring today from MCARBO and it was about a 3 minute replacement job. It sure reduced the pull on the trigger. It is at least half pressure to fire now than what it was before, Thanks for the help.

On my old 870 I just filed the hammer a little and it reduced the pull and made it crisp.
