Savage Model 11 243
Picked up a Savage in a trade for my son Saturday
Savage model 11 243
non accutrigger and older style stock
I shot it last night at 50 yards with Remington 100 grain bullets and man that trigger sucks! I estimated it was a 6 lb trigger when I first picked it up..
but I bet its 9 lbs or better. lol
sometime today I am going to clean that trigger up and hopefully get it down to around 3 lbs
the group at 50 yards with those remcorelocs was about 1' grouping at 50.
I have several different types of bullets and hoping to find a factory load that shoots less than a inch for son to hunt deer with.
any of you ever clean a factory trigger and do good with it?

Yes, every year I break all my guns down over the winter and clean them all. I have that same exact in a 243 and 7mm Rem mag. Neither gun had over 5# of trigger out of the box, but I clean and polish the trigger to get the most out of it. I don't care what anyone says, I'll take a Savage any day! The 243 I bought at work for $150.00 with a Bushnell Trophy 4 x 12 and 2 boxes of shells, I also bought the 7mm at work NIB with a simmons for $125.00 ( I love guys that don't have money for the bar on Friday night ) The 7mm has turned out to be one of my favorite deer guns!

Right Fatno. I had a feller who worked for me that would buy guns at tax time and when he got a bonus at work. Would sell me guns dirt cheap every couple of months it seemed. I finally asked him to take me to the gun store the next time he went to buy another one.
He asked me why?
I told him: So I can get the gun I actually want from you when you sell it to me.

Here's what I did to lighten the pull. Feels like it could be 3-3.5 lbs now.
I need to polish the seat.. but have never done that.

Didn't feel like it had any creep.

Adjust then polish with Flitz, then spray it down with a good Teflon lube.

That gun will actually shoot tighter than that @100, with handloads. Need to get the load to him. Keep forgetting.
