Who uses tornado brushes

Post by Fl strutter »

I'm wondering if tornado brushes are safe to deep clean my shotgun with? They are stainless and I'm afraid it will harm my barrel. I do think they would clean better than brass brushes but was wondering what y'alls opinion was.

I tried them on revolvers used with lead. I don't see much difference. However, this has not much bearing on the topic because I don't have a gun I have or would deep clean.

I personally prefer a bronze bristle brush since generally dip my brush in a Kroil oil/Shooters Choice blend when swabbing and get more solution in the bronze vs a tornado brush. I have not noticed scratching w/ a tornado brush, but then, I don't use them much, and when I do I generally have a 3 x 3 surgical gauze wrapped around the swab.

I would never run a SS brush down any barrel I cared anything about.
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have no need for a 30-06, I have a shotgun

Neither would I. I'd be afraid that the steel would scratch the barrel.

I have a Tornado brush, but am afraid to use it in chrome lined barrels. I went through so many bronze brushes using Shooter's Choice, that I have gone completely to nylon bristle brushes. They last a long time and obviously won't hurt anything.

I have a tornado brush for 12 gauge. But I never had to use it yet. They for barrels that have been neglected with a lot of build up of powder and plastic fouling in barrel. I bought the tornado brush on clearance for .99 I will probably never use it on my barrel because they are always keep clean and polished. But if I ever buy a use shotgun or narrowly that had been abused I will have the tornado brush to clean it up.
