We passed on several smaller ones before getting close enough to this one to cast a snag hook over him and then the fight was on!! After approx 10 minutes of hard fighting he settled on the bottom in about 12 feet of water and no amount of pulling with a stiff spinning rod and 65 lb braid would move him so I decided to go "Willie" on him with a giant treble hook and strong rope and after about 6 throws I hit something and gave a hard tug...all hell broke loose with rope burning my hands as I had to let some slip out. Another few minutes and he was used up and gave me the right angle to finish him off with the bang stick.
Little over 9' and by far the best gator fight I have had so far.
