Day 7 of the 2019 Ohio Squirrel Season

Post by HunterGKS »

I got set-up in “my” turkey woods at 07:32 at 63, overcast with a
light fog, & a slight breeze.

At 08:35, a fox jumped up on a dead fall directly in front of me at
about 30 yards. The .17 rang out its one note song & #3 was added
to the total. At 08:45, I saw movement in a brush pile o my right
but I never saw what it was. It moved around for about 5 minutes
before disappearing. At 09:13, a fox came down a tree at about 60
yards & disappeared into the underbrush. At 09:36, I spotted 2 jakes
feeding across the green field on the south side. Hopefully they’ll
show up in Oct.

This spring, I had gobblers hang up behind me & to the west. I had
planned on trying to find another spot to set-up near where I thought
they had been. At 11:00, I dropped off everything but the .17 at the
truck & started scouting. There is another 4-wheeler trail that leads
back into the woods. I walked back & found a good spot to set-up
which had several easy access spots for turkey. Hopefully the birds
will cooperate next spring.

I left at 11:15, still overcast & breezy with the temp at 66.
