At 05:00 this afternoon, I started the prep work for my venison chili which is headed to Gobbler’s Roost for the spring turkey season. I decided to take a break at 05:25 & headed back to che4ck the rock pile for g-hogs. I scanned the rock pile & the surrounding area & spotted movement behind a large rock. I keep watching &, at 05:25, popped a good sized female, the 1st of the year.

I finished up the prep work & got everything washed & put away. At 06:30, I went back out & scanned the pile again. A few minutes later, I spotted the grass moving on the far side of the creek. I saw a patch of brown but couldn’t ID what it was. Finally, the critter came out into the open & it was a mink. I watched it for several minutes as it moved along the creek bank before going back into the grass out of sight.
