This is the woods right behind the house. I bought my house & property from Mike’s Mom. I thought about going back this morning as it was really nice but I had things I needed to get done. I finished more than I planned & headed back about 01:10, overcast, breezy, & 57. Of course it started raining just as I got back but stopped pretty quickly. Weather-wise, it was an OK day but any day spent in the woods is a great day. I walked back to the pond & waited 25 minutes to see if any bushies would show up. It had stopped raining at 01:20.
I got back to my spot at 01:51 when it started raining again but by 02:00, the sun was breaking through.
I spotted movement 120+ yards in front of me at 02:05. It was a buck working a rub line. The story can be read at the following link if anyone is interested.
A Buck Rubbing
At 02:51, I walked back to the pond & spotted a fox at the same time it spotted me sending it into the underbrush. There were at least 2 in the treetops on the other side of the pond but they never offered a shot. At 03:24, I watched 1 moving on the ground near the rub line but it never got close enough for a shot. I headed to the house at 04:15 with a temp of 61.
