Tuesday 11/01/16 Fox Hunt

Post by HunterGKS »

I got to “my” deer woods at 12:35 with a strong breeze & a temp of 65. At 12:52, a fox started moving towards me through a dead fall on my left. It jumped up on the top limb & plopped down almost immediately, a big female.

At 02:15, I took a walk to my honey hole & back seeing nothing. At 02:57, a fox game out into the bean field but went right back in.

I noticed 2 differences in the woods between yesterday & today.

1. Yesterday the leaves were still wet from the weekend’s rain & I could move around pretty quietly. Today it was like walking on Rice Krispies covered with Corn Flakes.

2. Yesterday was cool enough so that the bot flies & the little bees that are attracted to blood. Today, the squirrel was covered with both due to the much warmer temperatures.

I headed home at 05:00. The temps had risen to 76 & the wind was still pretty strong. I plan to hit 2 more woods tomorrow & that may be it for the year.

Only if'n you like moldy, stinky, rotting bagels. It's a puff ball that I have taken several pics of starting at pure white & perfect to this stage. If I remember, I'll post each of th4em to show the progression.

I got 2 more today but 1 is so small it's hard to count it. I actually went 1 over on the total but got what I needed in foxes. If it's not raining in the morning, I plan to hit my turkey woods 1 last time. There's a 99% chance tomorrow will be my last hunt as I need to start doing the fall work & getting ready for winter.
