Primos Trigger Stick

Well, I got me one this week. It's a tripod Gen 3. I have been reading reviews and actually the BOG got better reviews, but the new Gen 3 is supposed to have some improvements to make it better. I got it for my elk hunt next October. I like the way the legs automatically lower when you pull the trigger and you don't have to lower them individually. It is a tad heavy, but hopefully it will aid in a steady hand when I lower the Weatherby on a 10 X 10 bull

I have had to jb weld on the piece that the stick slides up and down into the main shaft. It popped loose and the trigger part of the stick came out. Took forever for me to get it back together but I got it fixed. Mine is the 2nd gen mono shooting stick.

they are nice, but man make sure yours doesn't get loose. I will grab mine at the shop and take a picture of it and show you what I am talking about

Here's the problem spot.
The big tube is glued very good and the plastic collar will pop up and the big tube will slide off the small tube. Check yours and if needed jb weld around the big tube and reapply.

Don't know the details of your hunt but I know that any extra weight will be jettisoned quickly. Hopefully you are atv or horse backing. Spend a couple weeks chasing them every September with the bow. This years total mileage was 211 for 13 days. 2 Bulls killed 14 called in . Good luck and be sure to post pictures.

Well, the trip never happened. I got screwed by a guy I work with and he ended up going on a bow hunt with his in-laws after committing to going with me. Oh well, I still have the Trigger Stick though????

It's funny, were were tight as a tick on a dog back when we were Troopers together, grew apart and this trip seemed to bring us back together. He knew I was pissed when he told me.....well, he hinted that he was going with his in-laws and I finally said...........so we aren't going? He said, I'm going with my in-laws bow hunting. He told me the elk are in rut during bow season and I should buy a bow and go. I told him I don't bow hunt anymore and I wasn't spending $1,000+ on a bow for one hunt. He said, you won't be able to kill an elk with a rifle on public land, you need to go through an outfitter. I told him that if I killed one that would be a bonus. I just wanted to go and "experience" the hunt, see some elk and just take it all in.

Oh well, I haven't seen or spoken to him since he took his trip in September.....whatever, I'll get over it.

I also heard that he has booked an elk hunt in Wyoming or Colorado in 2020 for about 7,500 with some other guys!

Well camo, I don't hunt elk, shot 2 in my life and I just don't care to eat the meat, but if I did I would I would be more than happy to take you out, now antelope I can put you on within 20 minutes of my house and IMO are a hell of a lot better eating than elk. I believe you would not want to go home once you saw where the pavement ends and the west begins.

Sorry your trip didn’t work out, that sucks. I’ve carried a trigger stick at times, over the years, when the situation calls for it. I really like em. Never had any issues with mine until I dropped it about 20’. Had to buy a new one after that. I just recently purchased a Caldwell field pod for my kids. Maybe y’all already know about em, but dang, talk about a rock solid rest. And it folds up to almost nothing, weighing less than 5lbs. It obviously won’t replace my trigger stick, but I can see myself using it at times. If you do a lot of longer range shooting and are looking for something to steady your rest, look no further.

I have been thinking about getting a trigger stick for a couple years. We usually just use the cheap Allen monopods that weight about 8oz. Seems like I buy a new one every year because the thing bends if you look at it cross eyed. I have a rest that I can use with my spotting scope tripod and it is very sturdy, but takes forever to setup so it doesn't make it out for most shots because we are usually trying to hurry. Think I will try to trigger stick and see how it holds up.

I had shoulder surgery and it was going well and then I fell down and messed it up and am not at all comfortable holding the front of the gun up. I considered the Bog-Pod myself as well as the Primos Trigger stick but ended up getting the Caldwell DeadShot FieldPod Magnum because it supported both the back and front of the gun and the Bog-Pod did not have any elevation adjustment at all. The Magnum model is also tall enough to shoot standing up which the other models are not. It also has a level built into it which makes it easier to set up and feel confident in. The one thing I did not like about it is the carry strap is maybe an inch wide if that so I ended up picking up these and this work quite well for transporting it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078V ... UTF8&psc=1

I had also looked into the Caldwell DeadShot ChairPod but from the reviews that I could find it seemed that it was very unsteady and the elevation suffered when shooting.
