Before I made the switch to the 20. I shot 2.25 oz of mag blends out of my 870sm with an IC bds.

I use Hevi Shot #7 with a Jelly Head choke(.660) with my Super Mag. I will pattern a new Pure Gold choke (.670) that Clark recommended to see if the pattern is any better. The SSX choke (.643) seemed to be a little tight.

I use a Rhino .660 choke with 3.5" MsgBlends. I use to shoot 3.5" Nitros, but the MagBlends kill them just as dead. If I were buying a choke today, I would probably go with a .660 Jellyhead with the MagBlends. You have to shoot the 3.5" shells.......ugh, you do have a SuperMag....... Go Big or go home!

Hevi metal is a mix of steel and a higher density shot the "equivalent" of the steel shot which I believe is 4 shot.. The density on the Hevi Metal waterfowl densest shot which is around 10 g.cc, cannot comment as to the density of the densest shot in the Turkey version..

In a nutshell Hevi metal turkey is a joke.

i have a remington super mag 3 1/2 inch heavy shot with jelly head choke 665

thing drops em dead in their tracks. hurts your arm when testing patterns. when you kill a bird you feel nothing at all...

edit....
forgot to post....i use #7's hevi13's and get 298 in a 10 inch circle.
with #6's it goes to 248

still a good pattern.

I shoot either rhino or Indian creek .660(IC maybe a touch better) from my 870 super mag. I shoot Nitros 3.5 2 1/2oz 4x5x6x7 hevi-shot .Avg around 250-260 in a 10"'circle @40. But I had good numbers with the hevi 13 3.5 straight #5's, with the same chokes. Don't think you'll go wrong with either one. I like the nitros, when broken down per shell it's about the same as the hevi-13's. I have a hard time finding hevi-13 and when I did it was usually 1-2 boxes of 5 so I like the nitros because you can buy a box of 25 and they'll last a few years.

Those are some strong patterns. If I could get 248/10 with H13 6s, that would be my go to load. Would much prefer that to 298 with 7s, although I'm sure the birds can't tell much difference. ;)

There are no numbers on any of my clocks below 8. Then all of a sudden, 2 days before turkey season they appear. Then right after the season they disappear.
What's up with that
