Favorite call

Post by chatterbox »

Alright guys!
If you could only have one style of call to use, which one would it be?
My favorite would have to be a pot call. I have the most confidence in this style, even though I know the mouth call is the most versitile.
What do you guys think?

I like the pot calls. It use to be the box calls. I always seem to grab it first.
Anyway...
I'm wonderful with the mouth calls, yet I rarely use them. Image

If I had to limit myself to one style of call it would have to be a mouth call. I get bored easy and I can make all kinds of neat sounds with a mouth call like an Elk bugle, hawk scream, sandhill crane, ect. ect. Now if I could just learn how to make turkey sounds with one I could entertain myself all day no matter how slow the turkey hunting was.

Is that what I have? If so thats the first one up to bat this Spring. Going to see what the turkey birds think about it. The first one I tried would make them kill themselves.

Mouth, box, pot, tube, trumpet, wingbone, scratch box, and a push pin. And I have several of each most of the time. Thiose are my favorite favorite.

A buddy of mine was teaching a turkey hunting seminar one time and he told the audience that he carries 3 box calls, along with several other calls as well, naming each one. One guy raised his hand and said " why do you take 3 box calls with you" His response was: "because I can't fit 4 in my vest". And that was an honest statement by him.

LOL..

Try pulling a box out at a youth hunters seminar and telling everyone its a mouth call. Hold a straight face as long as you can while explaining the worst part is getting the chalk off your tongue...I've used that bit on the kids..they love it. Some adults won't know the difference either.
