2013 GOBBLER NATION TURKEY KILL THREAD

Remington 870 compact with TSS 1 5/8 oz 8x9 duplex at 18 steps.
22.5 lbs 9 3/4" beard and 1" spurs.
Reason: woodpecker made him gobble. He should have kept his mouth shut.

This was a guided hunt and it was ALL about scouting and knowing where the birds wanted to be. If you looked at this huge field this would be the VERY last place you would want to hunt but the birds liked this spot.

This bird was strutting for 4 hens. I was able to sneak around and call to him some. First bird with my old Savage 220A. Shot him at 56 steps and he dropped like a sack of taters.

This Super Jake fooled me with a thunder gobble. I would have bet a $100 it was a 3 year old working in. I never saw him while he came in and just saw his head in the end. He gobbled, spit/drummed the whole way. I only had a small opening to shoot and took the shot. It was a great hunt though and my Savage 220A flattened him at 15 steps.
